We are looking for a dynamic Assistant Accountant to join our Finance team based at our Head Office in Bagatelle.
Overview of the Role
Assist the Accountant/Finance Manager of the Leisure cluster in achieving accurate and timely accounting information, sound financial controls and financial processes improvements for the retail/merchandising department of the cluster.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain company ledgers and daily financial transactions.
- Collaborate with superior and other team members to successfully execute various accounting tasks
- Verify financial statements, ledgers and accounts and making corrections where appropriate
- Prepare monthly VAT and TDS return and yearly goods and services return
- Complete financial reports on a weekly basis and provide information to the finance team
- Reconciliation and chasing of direct debtors on a weekly basis
- Follow up with suppliers and perform reconciliation of suppliers statement of accounts with system
- Input all relevant bills on system during absence of the Accounts Clerk
- Perform accurate accounting for depreciation, accruals, prepayments and payroll purposes
- Participate in inventory stock take and PPE physical check
- Ensure proper reconciliation of intercompany balances and transactions made on a regular basis.
- Record and update Fixed Asset register and prepayments
- Perform bank reconciliations, revenue reconciliation and maintain audit schedules on a daily basis.
- Update on system for intercompany sales invoices and recharges to other RHOL Business Units and Subsidiaries
- Assist Accountant for preparation and finalization of accounts on a monthly basis, forecast on a quarterly basis and budget on a yearly basis
- Assist in the preparation of monthly / quarterly summary analysis and statistics related to financial aspect
- Participate in special projects as deemed necessary
- Assist superior / Accountant to implement SOPs & Audit file
- Ensure adherence to company policies and procedures at all times
Ideal Candidate Profile
- Diploma/Degree in Accounting/Finance
- ACCA Level 2 would be an advantage
- 3 to 5 years' working experience in financial and accounting environment (experience in the hospitality and merchandising sector will be a plus)
- Fluent both in English and French
