JOB DESCRIPTION – CASHIER

Department: Finance 
Position: Cashier
Reports to: Finance Manager
Location: Shanti Maurice Resort & Spa

Job Purpose

To ensure accurate and efficient handling of all cash and electronic transactions while providing professional service to guests and maintaining the hotel's financial procedures and standards.

Key Responsibilities

1. Handle cash, credit card and other payment transactions accurately.
2. Issue receipts, invoices and payment confirmations to guests.
3. Verify bills and ensure that all charges are correctly recorded in the hotel system.
4. Perform daily cash reconciliation and prepare cashier closing reports.
5. Ensure that cash floats are properly maintained and secured.
6. Identify and report billing discrepancies or payment irregularities.
7. Coordinate with the Finance and F&B teams regarding guest payments and billing matters.
8. Ensure compliance with hotel cash-handling procedures and internal controls.
9. Maintain proper records of transactions, refunds and adjustments.
10. Provide courteous and professional service to guests and colleagues.
11. Maintain confidentiality of financial and guest information.
12. Perform other related duties assigned by management.

Qualifications and Experience

• SC/HSC or equivalent qualification.
• Certificate or diploma in Accounting, Finance or Hospitality would be an advantage.
• Previous experience in cashiering, preferably in a hotel or hospitality environment.
• Knowledge of POS systems and Microsoft Excel.
• Good numerical ability and attention to detail.
• Good communication skills in English and French.
• Honest, reliable and able to work under pressure.
• Willingness to work shifts, weekends and public holidays according to operational requirements.
