How seasonal jobs work

Seasonal jobs last for a limited period, but they’re a great way to earn money, gain work experience and start your professional journey.

• The Work

You could work in shops, malls, restaurants, hotels, stockrooms and other businesses during their busy periods. The employer will explain your duties and show you what to do when you start.

• The Hours

Weekends, daytime or the full season. Choose what suits you when you apply. If you are under 18, you cannot work between 10 p.m. and 5 a.m.

• The Pay

Your pay and how you’re paid will be agreed with the employer, in line with Mauritian labour law. Check the job advertisement for details and ask the employer before you start if anything is unclear.

• What employers expect

You don’t need to know everything from day one. Show up on time. Follow instructions. Be respectful. Be willing to learn.
