Job Description

Overview of the Role 🔍  

 The Accounts Officer supports the day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate processing, reconciliation and recording of financial transactions in line with established procedures and controls.  

Key Responsibilities đź“‹

  • Prepare daily cash transaction schedules, verify Night Audit Reports and process invoices in WinHMS.
  • Reconcile Front Office/Welcome Centre cash takings and floats against system records and report discrepancies.
  • Conduct cash counts and manage petty cash disbursements and replenishments in line with SOPs.
  • Reconcile Forex collections, prepare the Forex Table Sheet and complete monthly reconciliations with Head Office.
  • Prepare and follow up payment schedules, including taxi vouchers, babysitters and other approved payments.
  • Ensure timely supplier payments in line with agreed terms and reconcile invoices and statements of accounts.
  • Verify invoices against supporting documents, including orders, GRNs, delivery notes and cost codes.
  • Prepare and forward cheques and remittances, maintain cheque registers and arrange banking of collections.
  • Monitor due-back requirements, including petty cash and stamp floats for the Blue Earth Boutique and Pro Shop.
  • Maintain accurate filing of Cashier Audit Reports, credit cards, paid-outs, bank reports and other accounting records.
  • Review PM accounts and allowances daily and ensure appropriate follow-up.
  • Reconcile Brinks guarding invoices against security attendance and follow up on credit notes.
  • Respond promptly to supplier, account and cost centre queries.
  • Promote energy-saving practices, particularly responsible use of electricity and water.
  • Provide efficient service and assistance to internal and external customers and partners.
  • Maintain cooperative working relationships with colleagues and support other Accounting Department activities as required.
  Ideal Candidate Profile 🎯

  • Higher School Certificate with Accounting at “A” Level or equivalent; ACCA Level 1 would be an advantage.
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a financial or accounting environment.
  • Fluent in both written and spoken English and French.
  • Computer literate, with knowledge of hotel management systems such as Opera, Micros and WinHMS
