Health & Safety Officer

Chronopost Mauritius is looking for a diligent Health & Safety Officer on a full time basis.

Main Roles and responsibilities:

• Evaluate and recommend preventive measures for employee and public safety

• Advise the employer on practical risk-reduction measures

• Develop and maintain training programs as required by law

• Review safety measures and procedures every 2 years or as directed by the Permanent Secretary

• Recommend safety programs when needed

• Establish effective safety communication between employer and employees

• Inspect all work sites monthly and record findings including dormitories

• Supervise the implementation of safety measures

• Investigate on employee complaints, accidents, and dangerous occurrences, and recommend safety improvements (provide corrective measures)

• Carry out Risk Assessment as per OSHA

• S&H Committee and ensure the good functioning of the committee and is done every 2 months

• Ensure follow up on dormitories maintenance & compliance

• Conduct dormitory check and visit regularly

• Setup welfare committee

• Follow up on welfare budget

• Ensure and coordinate of  well being of employees

• Assist in welfare and well being activities

• Setup environmental committee

• Assist in Environmental activities

• Ensure that Pest Control is being carried out correctly at the workplace and dormitories

Requirements

• Degree in Health and Safety from a recognised institution (BSc (Hons) or Occupational Safety and Health Management offered by any public university in Mauritius or its equivalent as certified by the Higher Education Commission) as per new law

• Computer literate

• Valid driving license 

Working Hours

Monday to Friday : 08:00 to 17:00
