Key responsibilities

  • Assess each designated case with respect to its medical elements, applying occupational health expertise and provide direction in order to facilitate medical due diligence and render the appropriate outcome.
  • Responsibility for designated ongoing medical related tasks required on all cases.
  • Responsibility for medical due diligence and case direction with respect to designated WorkSafe cases.
  • To participate in the WorkSafe Medical Nurse roster as required by Intl SOS.
  •  Ensuring a standardised approach to medical team training/quality/productivity initiatives across the platform, working towards continuous improvements.

  • Review results received from medical providers to determine member’s fitness to work, taking note of the individual’s medical risk profile, location risk profile, job title with physical requirements of position and environmental conditions into account.

  • To draft professional summaries of medical findings, by applying medical knowledge and acquired occupational health expertise, with appropriate medical recommendations.

  • Provision of referrals and country specific travel medicine advice as per appropriate validated travel data

  • Act as client champions and documenting and updating non-standard medical information on the client cheat sheet for the client as per designated stream.

  •  Demonstrate a detailed understanding of standard WorkSafe medical specifications and health check forms including an in-depth understanding of why medical tests are included in the health check forms and their relevance to the company’s work environments.

  • To ensure fulfillment of all medical client-specific Service Level Agreements/Contracts both internally and externally. To escalate any deviances detected to the Nurse Lead and to the Medical Director.

  • To provide delivery of a professional and customer focused service on the platform

  • To work with the Operations Team to ensure a seamless service in aspects of both medical and operational excellence, promoting good working relationships and communication between the operational and medical team.

  • To adhere to the monthly roster and regular medical team allocations and to have the ability to adjust to support case management requirements and quality standards.

  • Receive and assess relevant case related calls received from clients/employees.Collect logistical, medical and collateral histories pertaining to the medical concern.

  • Provide telephone medical or travel advice to designated subscribes in all parts of the world relating to the case management. To assess the appropriateness of the information being disclosed to the case management.

  • Participate in ensuring that quality checks are conducted for results received from medical providers.

  • Collect relevant medical information to produce focused professional medical reports and/or issue fitness certificates.

  • Early identification of complaints on the platform with relevant escalation to the Medical Director, Nurse Lead and WorkSafe Quality Manager.

Required Skills and Knowledge 
  • Demonstrates accountability, confidentiality and ability to handle client related funding.
  • Must have demonstrated a positive approach to the work environment and colleagues, must work well as part of a team.
  • IT Literate and proficient in the usage of contemporary computer software including Microsoft Outlook and Word.
  • Solid understanding of leadership with demonstration of project work and completion of same.
  • Able to work under pressure and deliver results to deadlines.
  • Strong leadership qualities to drive cases forward in collaboration with the Operational team in a timely fashion.
  • Be independent and firm, at same time a team player.
  • Good interpersonal skills to work in the team – with service-focus mentality.
  • Geographical awareness and cultural sensitivity.
Required Qualifications, Work Experience and Behaviours
  • Registered Nurse/Bachelor of Nursing Degree.
  • At least 3 years post qualification working experience.
  • Experience in Occupational Health, Workplace Health preferred.
  • Excellent written and spoken English.
