Represents the hotel at the main entrance by greeting arriving and departing guests in an enthusiastic and courteous manner. Directs traffic at the main entrances to ensure the porte cochere is accessible at all times and offer luggage assistance to all guests.

 

  • Ability to effectively deal with internal and external customers, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger.

• Ability to read English to ascertain information from luggage tags and claim checks; to write numbers and names

• Advises housekeeping as necessary to maintain a clean, orderly appearance of the main hotel entrance.

• Always cooperate with fellow Team Members and Team Leaders in the department
• Approach his/her Team Leaders in confidence if any problems arise
• Be able to give correct information to fellow Team Members and/or to guests regarding the hotel and/or Hilton International

• Be informed of the various meetings and events being held in the hotel.
	Ability to communicate effectively verbally in English. 

• Behave at all times in such a way as to avoid accidents.

• Clearly communicates guest parking procedures and applicable costs to arriving guests
• Considerable knowledge and ability to communicate clear directions to nearby local attractions and hotel facilities and services.

• Correctly inform the Front Desk in the event of any absence.
• Cross sell on the way to the room
• Deal with the guest’s luggage
• Deliver messages, faxes and other items which guests might request in accordance with the established standards.

• Distribute the morning newspapers
• Ensure a good working environment within the department.
• Ensure that the luggage room and all its belonging are kept clean and well maintained.
• Ensure that the delivery of luggage is in an efficient, quick and orderly manner for arriving and departing guests

• Fetch and collect incoming and outgoing mail for guests and internal messages and memos
• Guide them to the welcome desk and thereafter to the room (if time permits)
• Help reception for check in.
• Help receptionist at night to place in order the bills of outlets.
• If time permits, accompany the guest to his/her room
• Is able to provide information on the product range offered by the hotel, and give information on restaurants and attractions in the immediate vicinity.

• Is able to raise the internal alarms correctly
• Is aware of the joint responsibility for safety in our Hotel and abides strictly by all the safety instructions, especially when operating the machines and equipment.

• Is familiar with the “Special Rooms” (for those suffering from allergies and for disabled persons), is able to point out their special features to the guest and is able to operate all the equipment for assisting the disabled.

• Is in possession of a driving licence and is able to drive the hotel’s own bus and is jointly responsible for its servicing and maintenance

• Is obliged to take part in internal training courses and to implement what has been learnt in daily practice

• Is responsible for the tidiness and cleanliness of the lobby area, the entrance area and the luggage room, trolleys, club cars etc. (ashtrays, tables, chairs, etc)

• Is well familiar with the room installations & is able to operate and explain all the technical equipment.

• Keep the luggage room clean and orderly and to keep under control luggage left for safe keeping by guests.

• Know how to what to do in case of an evacuation/fire alarm or other emergencies (i.e. bomb threats).

• Maintain regular contact with frequent guests and all important guests of the Hotel
• Maintains an alert and attentive demeanour at all times in addition to remaining calm during periods of heavy business volumes.

• Park the hotel guests’ cars in the garage / parking place (on request only)

• Search for guests who are wanted on the telephone in the hotel with the aid of the OnQ locator.

• Show & explain the amenities in the room as well as fire exits.
• Sufficient manual dexterity in both hands to be able to load and unload luggage.
