The assistant company secretary provides essential administrative support by assisting in preparing legal documentation, maintaining up-to-date legal records, coordinating board meetings, and acting as a point of contact for internal and external stakeholders.

 

This role also involves monitoring regulatory changes and ensuring company compliance.

Requirements typically include a relevant degree, previous experience in an administrative or legal role, excellent organizational and communication skills, as well as knowledge of relevant laws and regulations

Main Responsibilities:

  • Convening, attending and drafting of minutes for board and committees’ meetings (experience essential);
  • Corporate secretarial tasks in general including corporate governance matters (Annual report drafting and drafting of documents for filing);
  • Ensuring compliance with all legal and regulatory requirements and filing with authorities;
  • Maintaining and updating statutory registers and ensuring timely statutory filings;
  • Day-to-day administration, drafting of documents and letters and
  • Business facilitation – License applications and follow up.
  • Client portfolio follow up with Registrar of Companies (ROC), Stock Exchange of Mauritius (SEM), Financial Services Commission (FSC), Financial Reporting Council (FRC), banks etc;
  • General filings at ROC and other institutions;
  • Compliance duties;

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3 years’ experience in the relevant field is a requirement. 

Candidate Profile:

  • Proactive, excellent organization and communication skills.
  • Fluent in both oral and written English and French.
  • Ability to plan and prioritize work and mobilize resources effectively.
  • Able to work under pressure and adhere to deadlines.
  • Willing and open to learn from others.
