Porter/Driver

About the Role

Veranda Tamarin is looking for a reliable, service-oriented and professional Porter / Driver to join our Front Office team.

The role combines guest service, luggage handling and transportation duties, ensuring that our guests receive a smooth, welcoming and efficient experience from arrival through departure.

Key Responsibilities

• Collect and handle guests' luggage upon arrival and departure.
• Ensure luggage is properly tagged, identified and delivered to the appropriate rooms or departure areas.
• Deliver incoming and outgoing messages and parcels to guests promptly.
• Provide efficient car and shuttle services for guests.
• Drop off and pick up guests as required.
• Assist with luggage transportation using the hotel's club car when necessary.
• Provide cold towel and welcome cocktail service upon guest arrival.
• Maintain good knowledge of the geography and key destinations of Mauritius.
• Promote and upsell outings and excursions to guests.
• Follow up on taxi-service vouchers.
• Ensure hotel vehicles are properly parked, maintained and kept in good running condition.
• Report any luggage damage or breakage to the supervisor.
• Ensure appropriate handling and swapping of master keys in accordance with procedures.
• Collect postcards from the letter box and forward them to Reception for postage.
• Maintain proper records of cold towel distribution.
• Communicate guest messages to the Telephone Operator when required.
• Participate in training and comply with established SOPs.
• Use materials and resources efficiently to minimise costs.
• Contribute to the hotel's sustainability commitments and practices.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

• Theoretical knowledge up to Form III and/or relevant professional experience.
• Valid driving licence is required.

Experience

• Minimum 3 years' experience in the hospitality industry.
• Previous experience in a porter, bellman, driver or Front Office role would be an advantage.

Skills & Competencies

• Fluent in English and French.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Professional, courteous and guest-focused attitude.
• Good knowledge of Mauritius and its main destinations.
• Safe and responsible driving skills.
• Good physical fitness and ability to handle luggage.
• Reliable, organised and able to work as part of a team.
• Flexible and comfortable working in a dynamic hotel environment.
