About the Role

GCC is seeking an experienced Site Supervisor (Foreman) to oversee daily construction activities across its building and civil engineering projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and quality execution in line with approved drawings and project schedules.

Key Responsibilities

Site Operations: Organise, allocate, and supervise daily construction activities in accordance with approved drawings, work instructions, specifications, and project schedules, ensuring efficient execution of assigned works.

Workforce Supervision: Lead workers and Leading Hands, allocate responsibilities, communicate daily work targets, monitor attendance and productivity, and ensure that tasks are completed efficiently and to the required standard.

Quality & Technical Compliance: Read and interpret construction drawings, check dimensions, levels, alignment, and workmanship, identify defects or deviations from specifications, and report technical issues to the relevant Site Agent or Engineer.

Health & Safety: Conduct routine site safety checks, enforce PPE requirements, identify potential hazards, and ensure that workers comply with established safety procedures and site HSE requirements.

Materials & Equipment: Coordinate material requirements with the Storekeeper and site management, monitor the availability and proper use of materials, tools, and equipment, and minimise wastage, damage, and unnecessary delays.

Progress & Coordination: Monitor daily work progress against planned targets, maintain accurate site records, coordinate activities with other teams and subcontractors, and promptly report delays, material shortages, or operational issues to site management.

Candidate Requirements

Education & Experience: A Diploma or Certificate in Civil Engineering, Building Construction, or a related field is preferred. Proven experience as a Site Supervisor or Foreman in construction is essential.

Technical & Leadership Skills: Ability to read construction drawings, sound knowledge of construction methods and workmanship standards, and strong team supervision and organisational skills.

Health & Safety: Practical knowledge of site safety procedures and risk control.

Certifications: NC4 in Scaffolding will be an advantage.

Languages & IT: Proficiency in English, French, and Mauritian Creole. Spoken Hindi and basic computer skills will be an advantage.

Mobility: A valid Mauritian driving license is mandatory. Flexibility to work extended hours, weekends, and across sites when required.
