Job description
Role Summary
Rock is a UK-based professional services firm providing global clients with integrated Corporate, Financial, and Professional Services, including company formations, corporate administration, governance, accounts, payments, and FX solutions across multiple jurisdictions.
We are looking for a hands-on Operations Manager to lead and scale a Corporate Services operation in Mauritius. Responsible for client relationship management, company formations, renewals, and corporate administration, while driving process improvement, automation, and operational efficiency. Ideal for a commercially minded professional with experience in a growing or entrepreneurial environment, who is comfortable working independently, building processes, solving problems, and developing a high-performing team in partnership with a global leadership group.
The Role - Phase 1: Run the Operation
From day one, you’ll be doing the work yourself while learning every aspect of how the business operates, with support from the Directors and wider Rock teams. You’ll need to be comfortable taking ownership of your work, solving everyday problems and knowing when to involve others.
Client Management
• Act as the primary day-to-day contact for an international portfolio of corporate services clients, building trusted long-term relationships.
• Deliver a responsive, professional and proactive client experience, taking ownership of client queries from start to finish.
• Work closely with Rock teams to deliver a cohesive client experience wherever clients use multiple services.
• Build strong relationships with registered agents, formation agents and other service providers across multiple jurisdictions.
Hands-on Operations
• Run the day-to-day corporate services operation, including company formations, corporate administration, renewals and ongoing client support.
• Manage the end-to-end onboarding of new corporate services clients, ensuring due diligence, engagement documentation and client records are complete and accurate.
• Manage international company formations and ongoing administration across multiple jurisdictions, particularly Mauritius, the UAE and the British Virgin Islands, alongside other jurisdictions as our clients require.
• Own annual renewals and statutory administration, ensuring deadlines are met accurately and proactively.
• Manage invoicing, third-party disbursements and client billing, working closely with Finance to ensure timely and accurate processing.
• Maintain accurate operational records, ensuring information is complete, organised and readily accessible.
Compliance Operations
• Support client due diligence, enhanced due diligence and ongoing monitoring activities, including higher-risk clients and jurisdictions where required.
• Ensure client onboarding and ongoing administration comply with our internal AML policies, procedures and operational controls.
• Identify and escalate suspicious activity to the MLRO, supporting investigations and reporting where required.
• Follow and maintain the operational controls and documentation that underpin our compliance framework and high standards of client service.
The Role - Phase 2: Improve & Grow
As the business grows and you get to know the operation, you’ll play an increasing part in improving how it works and supporting the people who join the team.
Processes & Controls
• Help document, implement and improve the processes, controls, SOPs and playbooks.
• Identify work that’s currently done manually and help turn it into reliable, repeatable processes.
• Suggest opportunities to improve efficiency through better processes, technology, automation and ways of working.
• Support the operational roll-out of new services and initiatives.
• Produce regular operational reporting and management information.
Team & Development
• Help onboard, train and support new team members as the business grows.
• Over time, supervise day-to-day work for junior colleagues.
• Contribute to building an operation that can support the business as it scales internationally.
• Role-model a culture of ownership, continuous improvement and operational excellence.
Experience and Skills
• Relevant Degree and 3–5 years’ operational experience within corporate services, company administration, professional services or a closely related environment, with hands-on responsibility for client delivery.
• A good working understanding of how corporate services operations work in practice, including company formations, renewals and statutory administration, ideally with some experience of improving processes along the way.
• Experience across multiple international jurisdictions, including managing relationships with overseas agents and service providers, is also an advantage.
• Proactive and self-motivated – comfortable taking ownership of your work and solving problems, while knowing when to escalate.
• Comfortable rolling up your sleeves to deliver today’s work while spotting ways the operation could work better tomorrow.
