Job Description
Maradiva Villas Resort & Spa is looking for a passionate, motivated, and service-oriented Commis Sommelier / Sommelier to join our team and contribute to delivering an exceptional wine and beverage experience to our guests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in providing professional and knowledgeable wine service to guests.
- Present wine lists and make appropriate recommendations based on guests’ preferences and food choices.
- Ensure proper wine presentation, opening, decanting, and service according to established standards.
- Maintain excellent knowledge of the wine list, including grape varieties, regions, vintages, and producers.
- Assist with the daily management and organization of the wine cellar.
- Ensure correct storage, stock rotation, and handling of wines and beverages.
- Monitor stock levels and report shortages or discrepancies to the responsible manager.
- Support the Bar Manager with inventory and stock-taking procedures.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the wine service areas, equipment, and cellar.
- Work closely with the Restaurant and Kitchen teams to ensure smooth and efficient service.
- Assist in maintaining high standards of guest satisfaction and service throughout the operation.
- Continuously develop wine and beverage knowledge through training and tasting sessions.
Profile:
- Previous experience in a similar position within a luxury hotel or resort
- A genuine passion for wine and beverages.
- Good knowledge of wines and wine service; relevant wine certification is an advantage.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Professional, well-groomed, and guest-oriented.
- Strong attention to detail and a willingness to learn and develop.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
- Flexible and available to work shifts, weekends, and public holidays.
- Fluent in English and French
