Accounts Officer

About the Role

Veranda Tamarin is looking for a detail-oriented and organised Accounts Officer to join our Finance & Controlling team.

The Accounts Officer will support the smooth running of the Finance function by managing supplier payments, cash transactions, banking activities, foreign exchange collections, invoices and financial reconciliations.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and reconcile daily cash transactions and verify Night Audit reports.
• Reconcile Front Office and Welcome Centre cash takings with the system.
• Conduct cash counts and manage petty cash disbursements in accordance with established procedures.
• Reconcile foreign exchange collections and prepare Forex reports for Head Office.
• Verify and prepare payment schedules and follow up on outstanding payments.
• Ensure timely payment of suppliers in accordance with agreed terms and conditions.
• Reconcile supplier invoices and statements of accounts.
• Prepare and forward cheques and payment remittances as required.
• Coordinate banking activities and ensure collections are banked appropriately.
• Monitor petty cash, stamps and other applicable floats and ensure timely replenishment.
• Review and file cashier audit reports, credit card reports, paid-outs and bank reports.
• Prepare monthly reconciliations and ensure balances are agreed with Head Office.
• Report discrepancies and unusual matters to the relevant superior.
• Ensure appropriate financial records and filings are maintained.
• Provide support to other members of the Accounting team when required.
• Contribute to the hotel's sustainability and resource-saving initiatives.

Candidate Profile

Qualifications

• Higher School Certificate (HSC) with Accounting at A Level or equivalent.
• ACCA Level 1 would be an advantage.

Experience

• Minimum 2 years of experience in a financial or accounting environment.
• Previous experience in the hospitality industry would be an advantage.
• Computer literate, with knowledge of hotel management systems such as Opera, Micros and WinHMS considered an advantage.
