Job Description

C-Care Hospitals & Clinics Mauritius is currently looking for a Assistant Cost Controller.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Junior Asset Auditor is responsible for supporting the maintenance, verification, and monitoring of the hospital's fixed assets. The role assists with asset audits, physical verification exercises, asset tracking, and reconciliation of records to ensure the accuracy and integrity of the hospital's asset register. The position provides an excellent opportunity to develop expertise in asset management, internal controls, and healthcare operations.

What you will be doing:

  • Assist the Cost Controller in monitoring and controlling operational costs across the hospital.
  • Review daily and monthly expenses to ensure they are properly recorded and supported by relevant documentation.
  • Monitor stock consumption and usage across departments.
  • Assist in conducting regular stock counts and inventory reconciliations.
  • Compare actual costs against budgets and identify significant variances or unusual movements.
  • Prepare and maintain cost control reports and analysis for management review.
  • Monitor wastage, damages, expiries, and excessive consumption and report discrepancies to the relevant departments.
  • Support the monitoring of food and beverage costs, including recipe costing, portion control, and consumption analysis where applicable.
  • Assist in tracking departmental expenses and cost trends and highlight areas requiring attention.
  • Maintain accurate cost control records and supporting documentation for internal and external audits.
  • Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and make recommendations to the Cost Controller.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, financial procedures, and internal controls.
  • Assist in investigating discrepancies between system records, physical stock, and financial records.
  • Qualifications & Experience:

    • Minimum HSC.
    • 1–2 years of experience in cost control, accounting, finance, inventory control, or a related role.
    • Experience in stock management, inventory reconciliation, and variance analysis would be an advantage.
    • Previous experience in a hospital, hotel, F&B, healthcare, or other service-oriented environment would be an advantage.
    • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel and ability to work with financial data and reports.
    • Good numerical and analytical skills, with strong attention to detail.
    • Ability to identify discrepancies and investigate cost and stock variances.
    • Good organisational and time-management skills.
    • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate effectively with different departments.
    • Strong integrity and confidentiality when handling financial and operational information.
