Job Description

The Safety and Health Officer is responsible for developing, implementing, and monitoring occupational safety, health, and environmental programs within the animal feed manufacturing facility. The role ensures compliance with Occupational Safety and Health Act 2005, minimizes workplace hazards, promotes a strong safety culture, and protects employees, contractors, visitors, and company assets.

Main Responsibilities and Duties: 

-Advise management on statutory safety and health requirements.

-Maintain all statutory registers, permits, notices, certificates and safety records required by law. 

-Ensure timely submission of accident/incident reports to relevant authorities where required. 

-Conduct and review workplace risk assessments for all factory operations. 

-Develop risk control measures and monitor their effectiveness. 

-Carry out routine inspections and safety audits.

-Monitor housekeeping standards across the company.

-Identify unsafe acts and unsafe conditions and recommend corrective actions.

-Investigate all accidents, dangerous occurrences, occupational illness and near misses. 

-Prepare investigation report and maintain accidents records.

-Monitor implementation of corrective and preventive measures.

-Conduct safety induction training for new employees and contractors.

-Organise safety and health committee and maintain records of meetings. 

-Develop and maintain emergency procedures.

-Coordinate fire drills and evacuation exercises. 

-Monitor fire extinguishers, alarms and emergency equipment.

-Promote occupational health and employee wellbeing programmes. 

-Ensure machinery guarding and safety devices are maintained. 

-Assess PPE requirements for various work areas. 

-Monitor proper use of PPE by employees and contractors.

Requirements for the post : 

-Degree in Occupational safety and health.

-Registered Safety and Health officer under Occupational Safety and Health Act 2005.

-3 years' experience.

-Experience in manufacturing food processing, feed milling, agriculture or industrial operations will be an advantage.
