Our client, a leading international organization with operations across Africa, is seeking an experienced and strategic People Business Partner to join its team in Mauritius.

This is an exciting opportunity for an HR professional who is passionate about driving business performance through people. As a trusted partner to business leaders, you will play a key role in developing and executing people strategies that support organizational growth, employee engagement, and operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Business Partnership

  • Partner with business leaders to develop and implement people strategies aligned with organizational objectives.
  • Act as a trusted advisor and coach to managers on all people-related matters.
  • Drive organizational effectiveness by identifying workforce challenges and implementing practical HR solutions.
  • Support workforce planning, organizational design, succession planning, and change management initiatives.
  • Monitor organizational performance and provide meaningful people insights to support business decisions.

Talent Acquisition & Development

  • Lead the end-to-end recruitment process to attract and retain high-performing talent.
  • Ensure an engaging and effective onboarding experience for all new employees.
  • Drive performance management, talent reviews, succession planning, and individual development planning.
  • Identify critical capabilities and implement strategies to build leadership and organizational talent.
  • Coach and develop line managers to strengthen leadership effectiveness and people management capabilities.

Employee Experience & Engagement

  • Champion initiatives that foster an inclusive, collaborative, and high-performance culture.
  • Lead employee engagement initiatives, including survey management, analysis, and action planning.
  • Partner with leadership teams to improve employee satisfaction, retention, and overall workplace experience.
  • Promote continuous feedback, recognition, learning, and career development.

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Serve as the custodian of HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Provide expert guidance on employee relations matters, disciplinary processes, investigations, grievances, and conflict resolution.
  • Independently manage complex employee relations cases while ensuring fairness, confidentiality, and compliance with employment legislation.
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labour laws and internal governance standards.

HR Operations & Workforce Planning

  • Manage headcount planning and HR budget tracking.
  • Support organizational capability development to meet current and future business needs.
  • Analyse HR metrics and workforce data to identify trends and recommend improvements.
  • Stay informed of labour market trends, HR innovations, and emerging best practices to enhance organizational performance.

Payroll & Statutory Compliance

  • Work closely with Payroll and Finance teams to ensure payroll accuracy and statutory compliance.
  • Monitor payroll tax requirements and ensure compliance with local legislation.
  • Stay updated on legislative changes affecting payroll and employment practices and recommend appropriate actions.
  • Support internal controls and payroll-related audits where required.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources Management, Psychology, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience in a Human Resources Generalist or HR Business Partner role.
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with business leaders in a fast-paced and results-driven environment.
  • Solid understanding of employee relations, labour legislation, and disciplinary procedures.
  • Experience managing the full employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, performance management, talent development, and employee engagement.
  • Experience working with HR analytics and reporting is an advantage.
  • Knowledge of payroll processes and statutory compliance is desirable.
