Job Description

  • Our client is seeking to recruit a Financial Control Officer who will be responsible for supporting the Finance Department in ensuring accurate financial reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and ensuring compliance with statutory and company requirements.

Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and post accounting journal entries, including accruals, prepayments, provisions, and other month-end adjustments.
  • Compute and record monthly depreciation and amortisation and maintain the fixed asset register.
  • Perform reconciliations of accounts payable, supplier statements, bank accounts, and other balance sheet accounts.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies identified during reconciliations.
  • Prepare and compute VAT returns and ensure timely submission in compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of monthly management accounts and supporting schedules.
  • Support month-end and year-end closing activities to ensure timely financial reporting.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure proper filing of supporting documentation.
  • Assist in the preparation of audit schedules and provide information required for internal and external audits.
  • Monitor financial transactions to ensure compliance with company policies, accounting standards, and internal controls.
  • Contribute to the improvement of accounting processes and reporting efficiency.
  • Perform any other finance and accounting duties assigned by Management.
Profile:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years' relevant experience gained within an accounting or audit firm.
  • Good knowledge of financial reporting, VAT, reconciliations, and month-end closing procedures.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software.
  • Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good communication skills and ability to work independently.
