Service of food and beverage including the order-taking and delivery of any food and beverage items. This task is to be handled in a friendly, courteous, helpful, timely and professional manner resulting in a very high level of guest satisfaction.

 

Essential Functions:

  • Check station before, during and after shift for proper set up and cleanliness
  • Greet the guests in a friendly and courteous manner and explain any specials and/or Food and Beverage promotions for guest awareness
  • Record the details of the order from the guests, repeating the order to the guest to check for accuracy
  • In put the order into the Point of Sales (Micros) to inform Kitchen of the order
  • Retrieve orders from Kitchen, confirm accuracy and deliver to guest with appropriate condiments.
  • Replenish beverages as necessary and check with guests for overall satisfaction
  • Market and serve upon request any desert or coffee
  • Ascertain guest satisfaction and present check. Process check as per Hotel procedures.

Supportive Functions

In addition to performance of the essential functions, this position may be required to perform a combination of the following supportive functions, with the percentage of time performing each function to be solely determined by the Food and Beverage Manager based upon the particular requirements of the Company.

  • Perform all assigned side work to include replenishing condiments and restocking side stands.
  • Answering telephone and taking room service orders, handle special guest requests, greet and seat guests.
  • Quickly clear dirty table settings and prepare table for resetting. Promptly and consistently reset all service ware as prescribed.
  • Upselling of Food and Beverages
  • Transport all dirty tableware from dining room to dishwashing area for proper cleaning.
  • Any other cognate duties that may be assigned to you by your superior.

SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY

The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job.

  •  Must have basic knowledge of food and beverage preparation, service standards, guest relations and etiquett
  • Knowledge of the appropriate table settings, service ware and menu items.
  • Ability to read, write and speak the English language sufficient to understand menus, special promotions, record orders, and communicate with guests to explain and record orders.
  • Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
  • Ability to transport large trays weighing up to 40 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis throughout shift.
  • Ability to develop constructive working and interpersonal relationships with colleagues and customers.
  • Service orientation and excellent organizational skills.
  • Hands on experience with cash register and any ordering information system.

QUALIFICATION STANDARDS

EDUCATION

  • Higher School Certificate
  • Certificate or Diploma in Restaurant and Bar
  • NC 3 or NC 4 in Restauration and Bar
  • Food Handler Certificate
  •  

EXPERIENCE

 Prefer 1 year experience in a five star hotel
