The Senior Manager – Treasury

 

The Senior Manager – Treasury (Money Market) is responsible to assist the Head of Treasury Dealings in Efficient Liquidity Management and Assets & Liabilities Management & maximize shareholder value, enhance profitability and increase capital, also protect the Bank from any excessive financial risks arising from changes in interest rates.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The key responsibilities are not limited to the following:

  • Monitor the liquidity position of the Bank and liquidity management activities of the Bank including wholesale funding activities, contingency plans and any other relevant liquidity measurements as approved by ALCO
  • Operate within the approved liquidity risk tolerances and reviewing how the Bank’s inability to meet its obligations when they become due may affect the Bank’s earnings, capital and operations
  • Manage daily funds position within the regulatory limit set by BOM by preparing Cash Flow for 3-6 months to cover expected receipts and payments
  • Efficient Liquidity Management to maximize earnings within the limit prescribed by ALCO
  • Manage NOSTRO Account after receiving receipts & payments from market making desk
  • Interbank money market transactions based on any excess or shortage of funds for both MUR and Forex.
  • Assist with the development of the Bank’s funding plan and contingency plan
  • Balance Sheet optimization
  • Monitor the management of interest rate risk activities and interest rate risk profile, the sensitivity analysis of the Bank’s earnings under varying interest rate scenarios and potential changes in market interest rates
  • Keep abreast of interest rate changes in the economy with a view towards limiting any potential adverse impact on the Bank earning
  • Set appropriate pricing to facilitate Forward/Swap quote by Sales.
  • Set accurate pricing of money market products
  • Keep abreast of all auctions held by Bank of Mauritius
  • Monitor the Bank investment activities such as purchase and sale of government securities and seek approval where necessary for investment
  • To prepare and send bid to the Bank of Mauritius within appropriate cut-off time using the appropriate system
  • Review the status of the securities portfolio, including performance, quality and maturity profile
  • Ensure that all ALM deals are properly booked on system
  • Ensure that Dealers have sent all ALM deal tickets to back office for counter verification
  • Ensure that ALM dealings are carried out within approved dealer’s limit
  • Ensure Head of ALM/Executive Head of Treasury is informed of major excess/shortage of cash &/or liquidity.

PREREQUISITES:

  • Degree in Banking or Finance from a recognized university OR an alternative qualification
  • An ACI certificate is mandatory
  • Candidate should have a minimum of 10 years’ experience in the Treasury function in Banking environment with a thorough knowledge and experience in foreign exchange and money market
  • Experience in asset and liability management in a major financial or related institution at managerial level.
  • IFRS 9 knowledge/expertise

SKILLS:

  • A detailed understanding of Regulatory guidelines with regards to foreign exchange market and primary dealings
  • Relevant experience of working within an international Treasury function exposed to foreign currency, interest rate and liquidity risk, with proven experience of being able to manage these risks
  • In depth knowledge of treasury products
