Senior Accounts Officer

Department: Finance

 

Direct Reporting Line: Senior Accountant

Job Purpose: The incumbent will be responsible for managing the day-to-day financial operations of the company. This role includes processing financial transactions, maintaining financial records, preparing reports, and ensuring compliance with financial regulations. He/she will work closely with the senior accountant to support the company's financial objectives and contribute to the overall efficiency of the accounting function.

Responsibilities

 

▪        Process accounts payable and receivable.

▪        Reconcile bank statements and ensure accurate financial records.

▪        Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.

▪        Assist the senior accountant in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.

▪        Generate financial statements and management reports as required.

▪        Manage the filing system for all financial documents.

▪        Ensure compliance with local financial regulations and internal control policies.

▪        Assist the external auditor in their assignment by providing necessary documentation and explanations.

▪        Support the senior accountant with ad-hoc financial tasks and projects.

▪        Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance financial processes

▪        Ensure all accounting entries have been done correctly and in a timely manner.

▪        Process all bank transactions and bank reconciliation.

▪        Provide accurate, timely and relevant recording, reporting, and analysis financial information.

▪        Assist in the preparation and submission of returns (TDS, VAT, APS CTX, etc).

▪        Assist the senior accountant Manager in day to day tasks.

▪        Updating monthly key reports for analysis.

▪        Maintaining accruals and prepayments schedule.

▪        Cost Control - ideas and implementation.

▪        Compliance to internal policies.

▪        Continuous improvements to Internal Controls Systems.

▪        Company's compliance to generally accepted Accounting Principles and financial Policies.

 

Key Qualifications

 

▪        Partly qualified with ACCA level 2 or any equivalent qualification

▪        A minimum of five years of experience of which at least 2 were in supervisory capacity.

▪        Advanced Computer Literacy is essential

▪        Creative Thinking

▪        Assertiveness

▪        Commands Respect

▪        Knowledge in the field of finance and accounting.

▪        Conversant with IFRS
