Summary of role
The Reporting Test Lead is responsible for leading the testing activities within the reporting team, ensuring the quality and performance of the reports and data solutions meet the requirements and standards. This role involves planning, designing, executing, and reporting on various types of tests and coordinating with other team members and key stakeholders to ensure seamless integration and delivery.
Role and responsibilities
Establishing, documenting, improving and managing the effective performance in the following areas will be the priorities for this position:
Strategy and Planning
• Follow the continual development, implementation and improvement of the QA strategy, management system, methodology, discipline and framework.
• Maintain compliance with relevant legislation, regulations, guidelines, and policies.
• Improve visibility of quality by implementing a quality dashboard and governance reporting on the state of current products, applications and services.
• Provide accurate and detailed metrics on governance processes.
Operational Delivery
• Provide training programs to key stakeholders and staff about quality standards.
• Provide continual monitoring of operational processes and activities, and identifying areas of improvement, plus definition/implementation of steps required to improve the processes, as required.
• Work collaboratively with development and business teams to define and review testing requirements, timelines.
• Development, definition and ongoing improvement of testing and validation processes, and team education in their adoption
• Analyse test results and provide comprehensive reporting to stakeholders, highlighting potential risks and areas for improvement.
• Gather and present testing metrics and testing activities for the projects to key stakeholders.
• Proactively identify and mitigate testing risks and ensure test environments are properly configured and maintained.
• Working with the Manager and team to address quality related issue trends both reactively and proactively through appropriate process improvements
• Identifies risk involved in the development or release of a product or service.
• Identification and recommendation for the introduction and adoption of quality improvement tools to both the quality assurance and overall development processes
Quality Assurance & Leadership
• Foster a culture of quality to ensure appropriate quality gates are embedded in all products, processes, and services to drive continual improvement and maturity.
• Be an escalation point for all matters related to testing and quality assurance and operate as a primary point of contact
• Ensure execution of all testing phases, including unit, integration, system, and user acceptance testing etc, and that sufficient testing is applied for functionality, performance, usability, load and coverage to assure Production services are effective and available
• Investigating the root cause of development defects occurrence and of production bugs not identified through existing testing and validation processes; Identifying, recommending and influencing steps to rectify identified faults.
Working with the team on:
• Planning testing schedules.
• Preparing/reviewing testing documentation, particularly test scripts.
• Controlling effective use of test tools.
• Adhering to principles, guidelines, disciplines and methodology of the QA strategy defined
• Performing specialised and general testing, including complex systems.
• Following logging problems through to resolution.
• Liaising with report developers and business representatives.
Qualifications and Experience
• Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related discipline (e.g. University degree), vendor-aligned certification in quality or testing (e.g. ISQTB) required.
• 5+ years’ experience delivering Information Technology Services in a complex, professional environment; able to demonstrate hands-on knowledge of all aspects of the IT Quality Assurance process.
• Extensive knowledge of various testing techniques and methodologies, across functional (unit, integration, system, acceptance) & non-functional (security, performance, compatibility etc.)
• Proficient in various testing tools and methods, such as ISTQB, ISEB, PMP, QAI, 9001, ISO, HP, CAPM, SILK, ALM, ADO.
• Demonstrable ability in the creation and development of Quality Strategies, Policies and Test Plans
• Demonstrated experience in delivery of quality management framework and systems.
• Proficiency in test management tools (e.g.Azure DevOps, JIRA, HP ALM).
• Experience with automation tools (e.g. Playwright, Selenium, QTP, Cypress, LoadRunner).
• Knowledge of programming/scripting languages (e.g., Java, Python, SQL).
• Familiarity with continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD) practices.
• Effectively demonstrate the ability to quickly acquire knowledge of new service elements for complex line of business applications and services.
• Effectively demonstrates teamwork, problem solving, initiative and integrity.
• Excellent interpersonal and written English communication skills.
Skills
• Proven experience in overseeing the design, packaging, testing, and deployment of software releases.
• High competence with flowchart and process mapping tools and procedures.
• Ability to manage risks and issues operationally and tactically.
• Strong documentation skills to ensure all documented information and processes are well understood by development teams and support teams.
• Knowledge of Microsoft Products and Services beneficial.
