JOB SUMMARY

The Porter has the main responsibility to enhance the customers experience and exceed guest exceptions by providing them with an outstanding first and last impression.

His main duty is to deliver luggage, parcels, and messages in a timely manner and ensure to provide product knowledge of the property and neighborhood areas to guests.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities and duties for this position shall include, but not be limited to, the following areas and activities. The holder of this position may, at any time, be called to perform any other cognate duties at the request of management.

  • To welcome and greet any guests passing by as the first and last impression of the resort.
  • To provide assistance to any guests inquiries.
  • To inform Reception about guest’s arrival and departure.
  • To maintain an accurate and clear arrival / departure control sheet with relevant information as follows :
  • Arrival control sheet : Guest name, room number, time of arrival, number of pieces of luggage delivered, time of delivery, name of    porter, name of transfer
  • Departure control sheet : Guest name, room number, time of collection of luggage, number of pieces of luggage collected, name of porter, time of departure, name of transfer / hand over to FO clearance, Housekeeping, Minibar
  • To inform Housekeeping for any departures.
  • To highlight any luggage defects to guests upon arrival when luggage delivery from the vehicle.
  • To remove all airlines registration check-in tags after luggage are identified by guests to deliver a clean and neat luggage.
  • To ensure to keep a clean and organized luggage room. To arrange luggage per room number when storing.
  • To always accompany guests in luggage room when guest wishes to access his luggage.
  • To ensure all guests’ requests are handled quickly and efficiently.
  • To activate a quick response to a guest inquiry, and then follow up to ensure the guest is satisfied with the end result.
  • Ensure that lobby area, reception area, luggage room, departure lounge, entrance, furniture and equipment are always kept clean and neat at all times.
  • Deliver luggage, message, and parcel in a timely manner.
  • To comply with all company and local laws regarding, Fire, Health and safety procedure.
  • To report and follow up any defects with equipment within the work environment.
  • To highlight any defects within the property to ensure guest’s safety in the resort premises.
  • Have a good knowledge of the local area and where to find relevant information.
  • To know the operating hours of each outlets within the hotel.
  • To communicate with all guest and employees in a professional and courteous manner at all time.
  • Adhere to all company policies and procedures.
  • Promote the upselling of hotel products and services.
  • Respect the shift system and report on duty as per the Roster done by the superiors.
  • Adhere to the grooming policy, code of conduct and any other policy related to the department and the hotel.
  • Adhere to Occupational Safety and Health Act, local health and safety codes, and company safety and security policy 
  • Promote energy efficiency and environment friendly actions
  •      Participate in trainings as and when requested by Management

CANDIDATE PROFILE

  • SC holder or equivalent
  • A minimum of 2 years’ experience in the hospitality industry
  • Good communication skills
  • Outgoing and pleasant personality
  • Tact and diplomacy for dealing with demanding customers
  • Team Player
  • Having a flexible approach to work
