IT Technician (Solana Beach Mauritius)

The IT technicians will have to diagnose computer problems, monitor computer processing systems, install software and perform tests on computer equipment and programs. Technicians may also set up computer equipment, schedule maintenance and teach clients to use programs.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Ensure physical installation of PCs, peripherals, time attendance terminals and network appliances
• Ensure that downtime is planned and agreed with all main users concerned.
• Ensure a good co ordination and collaboration for the installation of equipment and wiring with maintenance team and external contractors.
• Ensure no data loss during repair
• For repairs, analyze the cost effectiveness and risk of obsolescence before purchasing any spares.
• Keep updated inventory of all equipment – location, model, configuration, year of purchase
• Ensure first line support for all hardware and Software issues.
• Communicate effectively with users to identify source of problem / urgency and, whenever possible, train them on how to solve the problem themselves.
• Identify source of problems and take appropriate steps to remedy and provide alternative solutions where appropriate.
• Document problem and solution found – Intervention note
• Ensure that only authorized software and drivers are securely installed and configured – password, antivirus, etc
• Ensure that all critical patches are installed correctly and in time
• Ensure that users are trained on the software installed.
• Ensure that the network is not overloaded
• Highlight any potential bottlenecks , issues and risks to your direct superiors and propose feasible alternatives
• Ensure that all security software, including antivirus, are up to date and that patches are applies as and when required
• Perform preventive maintenance and housekeeping to ensure that enough disc capacity is available
