Head of Technology Projects

The role involves leading technology-driven projects across the bank, requiring expertise in Core Banking technology, project management, and cross-functional implementation.

Job Summary:

The organisation is looking for an experienced IT professional for the role of Head of Technology Projects who will be responsible for the execution of technology-driven projects across the Bank. This role requires substantial experience in driving technology projects, a deep understanding of Core Banking technology, proven project management skills and ability to lead complex, cross functional technology implementation. The role plays a critical role in driving the bank’s technology agenda, ensuring seamless execution of key technology projects while maintaining compliance and risk management.

Main Responsibilities:

Core Banking Expertise:

• Develop and execute the strategic roadmap for Core banking project, in alignment with the Bank’s overall business strategy.
• Lead Core Banking transformation initiatives, such as Core Banking system replacements or major upgrades.
• Lead the implementation and maintenance of the bank’s core banking platform including upgrades, integrations and customisations.
• Manage the full project lifecycle for all core banking projects, from initiation and planning to execution, monitoring, control and closure.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define system requirements, design solutions, and ensure seamless integration with other banking systems.
• Technical Oversight- Provide technical direction, evaluate and select appropriate technologies and frameworks

Project Portfolio Management

• Establish and maintain a robust framework specifically for large scale complex Technology projects, including clear roles and responsibilities, decision making processes and escalation paths.
• Lead the end-to-end delivery of all technology projects within the bank, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards are met.
• Lead cross-functional teams comprising IT, business, and external vendors to deliver innovative technology solutions.
• Manage project risks, dependencies, and constraints effectively.
• Establish and enforce project governance frameworks, ensuring compliance with regulatory and cybersecurity requirements.
• Maintain audit readiness and ensure adherence to banking and financial services standards

Stakeholder Management:

• Work closely with executive leadership, business units, and regulatory bodies to align technology initiatives with the bank’s strategy.
• Build relationships with external vendors, regulators, and technology partners to support project execution.
• Manage relationships with external stakeholders, ensuring service level agreements are met.

 Qualifications & Skills:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of experience in Technology project management, with at least 5 years in leadership roles within the banking or financial services sector.
• Professional certifications such as PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL or Certified Scrum Master (CSM) are highly desirable.
• Proven expertise in implementing and managing core banking
• Knowledge of digital banking, payments systems, and regulatory frameworks.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
