Handyman

Ekium AMIO Ltd is a growing engineering company based in Mauritius and part of the French EKIUM Group, a world leader in engineering design.

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Handyman to oversee and perform all necessary maintenance tasks at the EKIUM AMIO office and yard. The Handyman will be responsible for maintaining the facilities in top condition, ensuring that all mechanical, electrical, and general repairs are addressed in a timely manner. This role requires a proactive individual with experience in various maintenance tasks and the ability to troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve issues quickly and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities:

• General Maintenance:

  • Perform routine and preventive maintenance tasks in the office and yard, including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and painting jobs.
  • Inspect and repair any structural damage or malfunctioning equipment, ensuring that the workspace remains safe and operational.
  • Maintain cleanliness and functionality of workspaces, including repairs to furniture, office fixtures, doors, windows, and other infrastructure.

• Electrical and Plumbing:

  • Address basic electrical repairs, such as fixing lights, replacing switches, and repairing outlets.
  • Handle plumbing issues such as repairing leaks, replacing faucets, and ensuring the smooth functioning of water systems in the facility.

• Yard Maintenance:

  • Maintain the yard, ensuring equipment and vehicles are properly stored and organized.
  • Conduct necessary repairs to outdoor structures, fencing, gates, and equipment storage facilities.

• Safety and Security:

  • Ensure the security of the office and yard by conducting regular checks on locks, gates, and windows.
  • Respond to emergency repairs and urgent issues, ensuring compliance with safety protocols.

• Collaboration:

  • Work with the Office Manager and Facilities Manager to ensure all maintenance tasks align with company requirements.
  • Communicate with external contractors or suppliers for larger repair projects that require specialized skills.

• Inventory Management:

  • Monitor and maintain an inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment, ensuring that necessary tools are available for day-to-day tasks.
  • Track and report on the usage of materials and supplies, making purchase recommendations when necessary.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience as a Handyman or in a similar role.
• Skilled in a wide range of repairs, including basic electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general maintenance.
• Strong troubleshooting abilities and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
• Good communication skills and ability to follow instructions.
• Physical stamina to handle manual tasks and the ability to lift and move heavy objects.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Vocational training in a related field (e.g., plumbing, carpentry, electrical work) is a plus.
• Previous experience in office and yard maintenance or in a similar work environment.
• Valid driver’s license is preferred.
