Job Description:
We are looking for a dedicated and hardworking Farm Assistant to join our team on a local farm in Mauritius. The ideal candidate must have hands-on experience in livestock care (goats, ducks, chickens, etc), plant cultivation, and fruit farming. This role requires someone passionate about farming, capable of working outdoors in various weather conditions, and committed to ensuring the well-being of animals and crops.
Key Responsibilities:
Livestock Care:
- Feed and provide clean water to all animals.
- Monitor the health of animals and report any concerns.
- Clean and maintain animal shelters and enclosures.
- Assist with breeding, birthing, and basic veterinary care.
- Prepare soil, plant, water, and fertilize crops and fruit trees.
- Weed, prune, and maintain plant health.
- Harvest crops and fruits at the right time.
- Monitor for pests and diseases and apply treatments when necessary.
- Operate and maintain basic farm equipment and tools.
- Repair fences, irrigation systems, and farm structures as needed.
- Ensure farm areas remain clean and organized.
- Proven experience working on a farm, particularly with goats, chickens, and plant cultivation.
- Ability to operate basic farming tools and equipment.
- Physical fitness and ability to work long hours in outdoor conditions.
- Knowledge of organic farming and sustainable agricultural practices is a plus.
- Willingness to follow farm procedures and safety guidelines.
