Diversification Assistant

Are you passionate about sustainable agriculture and innovative farming techniques? Compagnie de Gros Cailloux Ltée, a leader in responsible agriculture/horticulture in Mauritius and a member of UBP Group, is seeking a passionate Diversification Assistant to join our dynamic Diversification Team.

Your Role

As a Diversification Assistant, you will play a key role in driving sustainable agricultural practices and crop diversification. Your responsibilities will include:

• Plan and oversee all stages of crop production, including land preparation, planting, cultivation, and harvesting.
• Propose relevant measures to improve crop yield and implement innovative techniques as seen in the regional agricultural industry.
• Ensure optimal irrigation and fertilisation practices to maintain soil health and boost productivity.
• Conduct trials of innovative techniques and technologies to enhance production efficiency and reduce costs.
• Promote and apply sustainable farming techniques such as organic farming, smart agriculture, and integrated pest management.
• Oversee daily operations to ensure timely completion of production activities.
• Maintain detailed records of crop performance, production costs, and yields.
• Provide regular reports to management on the efficiency, profitability, and sustainability of operations.
• Analyse data to recommend improvements in processes and outcomes.

Candidate profile:

• Minimum qualifications: Degree in Agricultural Science/Environmental Science/Agricultural Biotechnology or equivalent.
• Proactive approach to problem-solving.
• Strong interest in smart farming, and crop innovation.
• The ability to collaborate with teams and work in field-based environments.
• Outstanding research and analytical skills.
• Proficient in MS Office.
• Holder of a valid driving license.
