The Busboy ensures the cleanliness of all the restaurant venues on board and assists the wait staff with support tasks during service.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

Responsibilities and duties for this position shall include, but not limited to the following areas and activities. At management discretion, direction may be given for tasks outside the scope of work described.

  • Ensures that his section is properly cleaned during and at the end of each meal period, according to schedules and up to the public health standards of the company.
  • Complies with all company policies, rules and regulations.
  • Provides prompt, attentive and courteous assistance to the wait staff when help is required and/or requested.
  • Helps to ensure that all restaurant equipment and materials are in good working condition and are kept secure.
  • Follows schedules, work assignments and executes the side jobs that are determined by management.
  • Communicates any problems or challenges to the appropriate management.
  • Resolves in a satisfactory and proactive manner all service and product deficiencies in his/her station and reports any incidents or challenges to management immediately.
  • Ensures that his/her workstation is properly set-up for each meal period and that the mise-en-place is appropriate for the expected level of business.
  • Ensures that his/her workstation is properly cleaned and re-sets at the end of each meal period.
  • Follows schedules, work assignments and executes the side jobs that are determined by management.
  • Carry food and beverages from kitchen / bar to service area professionally.
  • Set up display/buffet counter with plates / cutleries for different services.
  • Complete implementation before the service starts (without a good implementation, you cannot provide a perfect service.)
  • Pick up requisition from storeroom as assigned to set up tables and serve meals.
  • You have to know your menu by heart as well as chef’s specials, buffet items.
  • Answer to guests queries and to refer any complain / suggestion to Restaurant Manager or his Assistants.
  • Never go from Restaurant to kitchen with an empty tray and vice versa.
  • Clear/clean side station (must be free of dirty dishes at all the time).
  • Refill equipment stock needed for reset in side station (glassware, silverware, napkins, etc.)
  • Ensure floor and chairs cleanliness at all the time.
  • Assist Waiter in clearing and resetting tables.
  • Farwell good-bye to the guests.

Candidate profile:

Qualification:

  • Middle or Secondary Education + Additional training or certificates in the relevant field is a plus. 

Experience:

  • A minimum of 1 year of experience in hotel industry on a similar position including training.
  • Proven experience working in a top luxury resorts is a plus.
  • Experience working in remote island locations is a plus.

Technical skills:

  • Multi-tasking.
  • Able to perform well in fast-paced environments.
  • Team spirit.
  • Active listening and effective communication skills.
  • Fluency in English, or another language, written and verbal communication.
  • Knowledge of a second language is a plus.
