The Assistant Manager Actuarial will develop actuarial analysis and management reporting processes to support and improve business decision making.
Main Responsibilities
Data analytics:
- Extract and analyse large, complex datasets to identify trends, patterns, and insights that get business insights and leverage same for decision making.
- Develop predictive models to forecast future claims, loss ratios, and other key insurance metrics.
- Utilize analytics techniques to support actuarial decision-making in reserving, and risk management.
- Conduct profitability and sensitivity analyses to optimize profitability in line with the company's risk appetite.
Dashboard Development and Monitoring:
- Design, build, and maintain interactive dashboards using data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau) to monitor key actuarial/technical operations.
- Ensure that dashboards provide insights into claims development, loss ratios, and other operational metrics, enabling proactive decision-making.
- Develop clear and actionable reports using dashboards to present complex actuarial data to non-technical stakeholders, including senior management.
- Ensure the timely submission of monthly dashboards and quarterly management reports for Board committees, and leverage dashboards to automate and streamline reporting processes.
- Continuously improve dashboard functionality based on feedback from stakeholders to meet evolving business needs.
Collaboration and decision-making support:
- Work closely with internal stakeholders (finance, underwriting, claims, pricing, risk management) to provide data-driven insights that influence business decisions.
- Provide findings and recommendations from data analysis to senior management and external stakeholders, aiding in strategic planning.
- Ensure alignment of data analytics practices with business objectives, regulatory standards, and industry best practices.
Job Requirements:
- Degree in Mathematics or Actuarial science.
- At least 3 yearsrelevant working experience in a similar position preferably in general insurance or reinsurance field.
- Excellent programming skills in R, Python, SQL or any other data modelling platform.
- Strong attention to detail with ability to work in a team.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Positive attitude and result oriented.
- Fully conversant with MS Office Tools.
