The Head of Transfer Agency will serve as an integral part of our senior management team, reporting directly to the CEO and will play a key role in developing our fund services business in Mauritius. Responsibilities for this role will include implementing and ensuring compliance with Mauritian Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) and other regulatory policies and procedures. The individual hired will also be responsible for:

Operational Performance Management

  • Oversee and manage initial due diligence review of prospective clients
  • Assist in overseeing investor onboarding and participate in escalation discussions regarding investors flagged for compliance issues, including those with positive matches to sanctions or other lists
  • Handle questions, provide guidance and otherwise assist the Registrar and Transfer Agency (RTA) team in performance of their duties, including due diligence review of clients and investors, KYC processes, and review of contributions and redemptions in accordance with fund documents
  • Escalate AML due diligence and sanctions issues on client and investor files to Chief Compliance Officer
  • Manage the testing of KYC information collected on funds and investors to ensure compliance with NAV policies and procedures and Irish Anti-Money Laundering and Countering the Financing of Terrorism (AML/CFT) regime;
  • Coordinate internally with staff to ensure timely and accurate responses in connection with examinations and inquiries by regulators and governmental agencies
  • Coordinate remediation efforts resulting from internal audit or examination findings as needed
  • Review client-provided representation letters for investment risk ratings or sanctions monitoring where applicable
  • Monitor the implementation of various compliance policies and procedures and conduct periodic compliance assurance review
  • Actively assist in maintaining compliance policies and procedures, including participating in performing annual reviews
  • Preparation and review of client and board reporting
  • Liaise with clients, directors, internal parties, and outside counsel as necessary
  • Source and negotiate AML due diligence vendor service agreements
  • Source and negotiate professional liability and other insurance as required by regulators, business partners, and clients worldwide
  • Develop new business through communicating with warm leads, coordinating presentations, conducting demos of web portal and proprietary systems, developing proposals, negotiating service agreements, closing sales and ensuring smooth delivery of new services. 
  • Spread awareness of the Company’s brand by developing and maintaining a strong network of intermediary relationships with influencers and other referral sources.
  • Assist with any ad-hoc projects as required

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum 5-7 years of registrar and transfer agency experience, preferably in the role of a manager at a hedge fund administrator or audit firm
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • Sufficient combination of experience and educational background
  • Should be efficient and well-organized with exceptional attention to detail
  • Must be able to work under pressure and within tight deadlines
  • Experience presenting to prospective clients, and negotiating and closing deals utilizing the consultative approach is a plus
  • Must be willing to periodically travel to conferences and industry events

 

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Advanced degree (JD, MBA) and/or professional certification (e.g., CPA, CFA) is strongly preferred
  • Experience in a regulated financial services business

Remote or Hybrid work:

  • You will work at the Company’s Ebene, Mauritius office at least three days per week and other days remotely from home
