We are seeking a highly skilled and proactive HR Officer with strong knowledge of HR practices to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate must have at least 3 years of HR experience.

 

1. HR Strategy & Workforce Planning

  • Work closely with senior management to develop HR strategies that align with the company’s short-term and long-term goals.
  • Conduct workforce planning to ensure staffing needs are met and optimize resource allocation across departments.
  • Create and implement workforce development plans, including succession planning and career progression.
  • Analyze employee turnover rates and propose effective retention strategies.

2. Recruitment & Onboarding

  • Manage the end-to-end recruitment process, including advertising vacancies, conducting interviews, and onboarding new employees.
  • Ensure all hiring practices comply with Mauritian labor laws and that equal opportunity principles are maintained.
  • Develop and maintain a database of qualified candidates to ensure timely recruitment when needed.
  • Ensure smooth onboarding for new employees, providing a clear introduction to company policies and culture.

3. Payroll Management & Benefits Administration
Coordinate payroll processing with the Finance Department for validation.

  • Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accurate and timely payment of salaries, bonuses, and allowances.
  • Ensure compliance with local laws regarding wages, deductions, and other payroll-related matters.
  • Administer employee benefit programs, including health insurance, retirement savings plans, and other perks.
  • Propose and implement new benefit plans based on employee needs and market trends to improve employee satisfaction and retention.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of tax laws, social security contributions, and other compliance issues in Mauritius.

4. Employee Relations & Conflict Resolution

  • Act as the main point of contact for employee relations issues, addressing concerns and resolving conflicts in a professional manner.
  • Maintain positive relationships between management and employees to foster a collaborative work environment.
  • Ensure fair treatment of all employees by adhering to Mauritian labor laws, particularly concerning discrimination, grievances, and disciplinary actions.
  • Propose and implement solutions to improve employee satisfaction and engagement.

5. Compliance with Mauritian Labor Laws

  • Ensure all HR practices comply with Mauritian labor laws (e.g., Employment Rights Act, Occupational Safety and Health Act, etc.).
  • Monitor changes in employment legislation in Mauritius and update HR policies and procedures accordingly.
  • Provide advice on compliance with employment contracts, working hours, overtime, rest days, and other employment-related matters.
  • Manage work permits and ensure compliance with immigration laws for foreign workers.

6. Performance Management & Employee Development

  • Coordinate the performance appraisal process, ensuring it is fair, transparent, and aligned with the organization’s goals.
  • Create and implement performance improvement plans for underperforming employees and provide ongoing coaching and feedback.
  • Organize training and development programs in collaboration with the HRDC to upskill employees and align with industry standards.
  • Develop personalized training plans based on performance reviews, identifying skill gaps and promoting continuous learning.

7. Employee Benefits & Retention Initiatives

  • Analyze current employee benefits and propose plans to improve them, focusing on both financial and non-financial incentives.
  • Develop and recommend employee retention strategies to reduce turnover and increase employee loyalty.
  • Monitor employee satisfaction surveys, gather feedback, and make actionable recommendations for improvement.
  • Initiate programs to boost workplace morale, including wellness programs, team-building events, and recognition schemes.
  • Ensure all employees understand and appreciate the company’s benefits offerings through regular communication.

8. HRDC & Skills Development

  • Collaborate with the HRDC to ensure the company complies with national training policies and benefits from available training grants and programs.
  • Assist employees in accessing HRDC funding for training and development opportunities, ensuring alignment with both personal growth and business objetc.ives.
  • Track and report the success of training programs, evaluating their effectiveness in improving employee performance.

9. Workplace Environment & Culture

  • Take the initiative to create a positive workplace culture, ensuring employees feel valued, respected, and motivated.
  • Promote a safe and inclusive work environment, in compliance with local health and safety regulations.
  • Monitor and take action to ensure workplace cleanliness, employee welfare, and a supportive atmosphere for all team members.
  • Facilitate team-building activities and employee recognition events to improve workplace morale and collaboration.

10. HR Administrative & Reporting

  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, including contracts, performance appraisals, training certifications, and other HR documents.
  • Prepare HR reports on employee turnover, performance metrics, recruitment activities, and training progress for management review.
  • Coordinate HR audits to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations.
