Experienced Chef / Baker required for high-end coffee shop and eatery.

 

We are seeking a passionate and creative Chef / Baker to join our team at KIND Coffee. This role is ideal for someone who loves crafting fresh, elegant baked goods and small savory plates in a fast-paced, high-end coffee shop environment.

The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in both baking and culinary arts, with a commitment to quality, presentation, and consistency.

We are searching for a strong candidate that takes initiative in their work, has a good worth ethic and a great attitude.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Prepare and cook a refined selection of hot food offerings, such as gourmet breakfast items, brunch dishes, and seasonal small plates, with a focus on quality and presentation.
  • Expedite food service, especially during peak hours, ensuring accurate, timely, and visually appealing plating of all dishes.
  • Coordinate closely with kitchen and front-of-house staff to maintain efficient service flow and uphold high culinary standards.
  • Maintain a clean, organised, and well-stocked hot line and prep area throughout service.
  • Assist in the development of new food menu items, incorporating seasonal ingredients and current culinary trends.
  • Monitor food quality and portion control to ensure consistency with recipes and brand standards.
  • Uphold strict hygiene and safety standards in all food preparation and storage areas.
  • Support inventory management by tracking usage and assisting with ordering supplies as needed.
  • Mentor junior kitchen staff and contribute to a positive, team-oriented kitchen culture.
  • Ensure all food is stored and prepared according to health and safety regulations.

  • Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the kitchen and baking stations.

  • Train and mentor junior kitchen staff

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

  • Culinary degree or equivalent professional training in baking/pastry arts.

  • Experience in a bakery, restaurant or hotel environment, preferably high-end.

  • Strong understanding of classic and modern baking techniques.

  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills.

  • Attention to detail and a passion for aesthetic food presentation.

  • Ability to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays as required.

  • Familiarity with kitchen equipment and food safety protocols.

THE DETAILS

- Full time position
- Working hours 7:00am-4:00pm
- 5 working days a week, including weekends and holiday days.
