Senior System Engineer

The job incumbent shall be responsible for Pre-sales, delivery, implementation, documentation and support of ICT equipment, systems and solutions. The Senior System Engineer shall also manage the implementations of projects and provide excellent customer service.

Responsibilities:

1. Responsible for installing, configuration and assisting in the design and implementation of systems and database solutions;
2. Ensure the collection of necessary information and ascertain understanding and capabilities relating to the implementation tasks;
3. Implement a lab environment test system, prior to implementation;
4. Ensure that testing of equipment/system, for field interventions, is performed in order to certify proper operational state of repaired/replaced equipment and system;
5. Intervene at client’s site for technical support, repairs and maintenance of ICT equipment within a specific time frame;
6. Perform periodic maintenance and system review as per maintenance contractual terms or as instructed by HOD / Manager;
7. Provide assistance by resolving calls logged-in;
8. Manage incidents and support customers;
9. Manage relationship with suppliers in implementation and solving problems and incidents;
10. Work in collaboration with the technical and sales team;
11. Diagnose and resolve incidents with internal and external stakeholders;
12. Tune and solve complex production environment systems and databases;
13. Build and implement security models;
14. Prepare technical reports within schedule;
15. Document design specifications, installation instructions, and other system-related information;
16. Participate in continuous improvement of our service quality;
17. Train system users in system operation or administration;

Qualifications & Experience:

1. Hold a Bachelor Degree in Computer Science Engineering or equivalent technical;
2. 2 - 5 years related experience in Unix (Linux/AIX/Solaris) and Oracle RDBMS;
3. Have a sound knowledge of a backup, restore and disaster recovery solutions and implementations;
4. Have a good knowledge of scripting or programming;
5. Have good knowledge of Networks (LAN/SAN);
6. Understand virtualization and high availability architectures and solutions;
7. Have managed and administered Oracle production databases;
8. Have used a project management method to deliver project;
9. Project Management skills;
10. Good Interpersonal and communication skills; 
11. Sound analytical and organizational skills;
12. Good written and spoken command of French and English;

Required Knowledge:

1. Operating Systems: AIX, Oracle Solaris and Linux;
2. Databases: Oracle RDBMS/Informix and related products; 
3. Backup software: NetBackup, Oracle Secure Backup;
4. High availability software: PowerHA, Veritas Cluster server, Oracle RAC, Linux HA;
