Primarily responsible for Operating and maintain cleaning equipment and tools under supervision of his/her direct supervisor. Also responsible for washing dishes, flatware, cutlery, crockery, etc.

 

Responsibilities:

    • \Control of all operating equipment (cutlery crockery glassware, hollowware, linen).
    • Ensure the kitchen is clean, well maintained and organised at all times.
    • Adhere to all sanitation guidelines
    • Ensure waste bin area is kept clean and tidy
    • Carry out general cleaning as directed to include sweeping, mopping up, washing up, emptying of rubbish bins and boxes ensuring placement in the correct containers
    • Cleans and sanitizes dishes and related serviceware following established procedures
    • Wash, Wipe, Sort, stack dishes, and load/unload dishwasher
    • Collect and remove trash from all areas of the operation following established procedures
    • Report any maintenance or hazard issues to the chief steward
    • Use and maintain all equipment's according to manufacturer and department guidelines.
    • Clean and sanitize pots, pans, utensils, and other minor equipment routinely used in the kitchen following established procedures
    • Dispose of waste as per the hotel and authority standards and Adhere to recycling guidelines.
    • Wash, Wipe, Sort, stack and store all cleaned items in an organised and safe manner
    • Assist in the set up and break down of service areas for all special functions (buffet, outside catering, etc)
    • Clean stoves, ovens, grills, refrigerators
    • Any other cognate duties as delegated by Reporting Line
  • Preferred Skills

    • Health and Hygiene Certificate 
    • At least Form 3
    • Highly responsible & reliable
    • Be physically fit
    • Good Communication Skills
    • Be able to read basic English and French
    • Be able to write
    • Pleasant personality
    • Customer savvy
    • Ability to work while standing up and walking for extended periods of time
    • Ability to work well under pressure in a fast paced environment
    • Ability to work cohesively as part of a team
    • Prior dishwashing experience desirable
    • Prior knowledge of cleaning methods desirable
    • Enthusiasm for upholding hygiene standards
