The Systems Analyst’s role is to plan, design, develop, and launch efficient information systems and operations systems in support of core organizational functions.
Description
The Systems Analyst’s role is to plan, design, develop, and launch efficient information systems and operations systems in support of core organizational functions. He/She will apply proven communication, analytical and problem-solving skills to help identify, communicate and resolve systems issues in order to maximize the benefit of IT systems investments.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze and understand business processes and requirements to develop effective technical solutions.
- Assist in the planning, design and development of new applications and enhancements to existing applications.
- Collaborate with IT team members, decision makers, systems owners and end users to define business requirements and systems goals.
- Identify and resolve business systems issues.
- Prepare functional specification documents in accordance to new business requirements.
- Ensure compatibility and interoperability of business software applications.
- Review and analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of existing systems and develop strategies for improving or further leveraging these systems.
- Assist in the deployment of new applications and enhancements to existing applications.
- Identify, assess and recommend software solutions and implementation partners to management.
- Perform cost-benefit and return on investment analyses for proposed systems to aid management in making implementation decisions.
- Participate and sometimes drive IT projects to ensure that system requirements and data engineering needs are addressed throughout the project life cycle.
- Create systems models including integration points, specifications, diagrams and charts to provide direction to internal stakeholders and third parties.
- Coordinate and perform in-depth tests, including end-user reviews, for modified and new systems.
- Provide orientation and training to end users for all modified and new systems.
Job Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in information technology, Computer Science, or related field.
- A Master's degree will be an advantage.
- Minimum of 8 years of experience in information technology, minimum of 3-4 years in systems analysis or functional analysis and 2-3 years in a team management role.
- Hands-on skills in SQL and databases (e.g. Oracle, SQL Server).
- Ability to conduct research into systems issues and products as required.
- Proven experience in analyzing, designing, and implementing information systems.
- Strong understanding of business processes and technical systems.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Written and oral communication, listening and interpersonal skills.
- Good project management skills and the ability to work in a team.
- Highly self-motivated and keen attention to details.
- Strong customer service orientation.
