The Supervisor is responsible for planning and execution of works (own works or subcontracted works) on one part of a large contract, a medium sized contract or a number of small contracts.
- To distribute work to subordinates and prepare labour allocation sheets on a daily basis.
- To ensure that the programme of works given by the Site Engineer/Site Manager/Chief Supervisor is implemented and followed on a day-to-day basis.
- To follow detailed weekly programme of the works and take necessary measures to ensure progress does not fall behind programme.To request information sufficiently in advance to avoid disruptions and delays.
- To anticipate potential construction problems and initiate preventive attention/action
- To regularly participate in subcontractors’ meetings
- To attend internal site meetings and report on progress of works for the smooth running of site(s)
- To regularly liaise with the Site Engineer/Site Manager/Chief Supervisor for any changes in drawings and/or verbal/written instructions.
- To report any reworks and/or additional works which relates to changes in drawings and/or verbal/written instructions received.
- To ensure the activities of all subcontractors are well coordinated with the activities of the main contractor.
- To comply with the company’s Quality Assurance policy implemented
- To monitor quality of the works for all activities assigned on site from the start – including own labour, labour only, domestic, nominated, selected and direct subcontractors.
- To ensure that all checklists are correctly filled in conjunction with Site Agent/Senior Chief Supervisor – Own Snagging.
- To strive to get all activities executed right first time.
- To monitor and optimize the productivity/ output of labour, plant and material resources for the projects and ensure that there is minimum wastage.
- To carry out join measurements with the Construction Surveyor for subcontractors’ payment and claims.
- To take prompt action to stop any inefficiencies identified.
- To do daily labour costing on the eve of that day and check if set targets are achieved or improved (applicable on certain sites only) and report to Direct Supervisor
- To ensure plant and equipment are used correctly and maintained in good working order
- To report cases of fraud, abuse of company property and any deviations from Company’s Code of ethics
- To monitor overtime and associated costs.
- To check quantity of materials delivered are as per delivery notes received.
- To check quality of materials and equipment received are as ordered
- To ensure all materials are requested sufficiently in advance for the smooth running of the site.
- To ensure that the correct quantity and quality of materials is ordered to avoid wastage and overstocking.
- To organise for all materials to be delivered to the most appropriate location paying attention to efficiency, safety and security.
- To provide regular feedback to the Site Engineer/Site Manager regarding performance of suppliers
