Job Title: Quantity Surveyor & Cost Controller
Location: Royal Road, Piton, North of Mauritius
Key Responsibilities
The candidate will play an essential role in assisting the Managing Director (MD) across multiple areas of the business. Their responsibilities include:
- Bill of Quantities (BOQs):
- Understand, value-engineer, and measure BOQs effectively.
- Drawing Interpretation:
- Read and interpret architectural, engineering and MEP drawings with precision.
- Tendering Process:
- Develop and implement a streamlined system for tendering.
- Site Operations Management:
- Oversee and manage daily site activities, including:
- Planning and monitoring on-site production.
- Supervising procurement processes.
- Managing labour.
- Monitoring and controlling stock.
- Attending site meetings as needed.
6. Supplier and Vendor Management:
7. Update supplier price lists regularly and negotiate competitive rates.
8. Client and Consultant Relations:
9. Build a network with consultants and clients to secure monthly tenders aligned with Brix Solution’s core trades.
10. Profitability Initiatives:
- Develop strategies to enhance profitability, for example:
- Producing kerbs for internal projects.
- Identifying methods to reduce labour costs while increasing productivity (e.g., investing in equipment or technology).
Daily Responsibilities:
- Assist the MD with BOQs and site operations.
- Support site foremen and maintain regular communication.
- Implement cost control measures for labour, maintenance, transportation, materials, and tools.
- Develop site/job-specific cost-control strategies.
- Ensure quality control, safety and site tidiness.
- Validate and prepare accurate setting out and level coordinates in collaboration with clients or professionals.
- Support the MD in client interactions and professional networking.
- Collaborate with the admin and accounting teams on cost management for each site/project.
- Manage in-house residential and commercial projects, including:
- Analysing tenders and BOQs.
- Sourcing suppliers and competitive rates.
- Evaluating potential contractors and their work.
