Scope

The Purchasing Officer should perform a wide variety of professional level procurement duties involving organisation, acquisition of goods and services, planning, supplier management, coordination and ensuring correct procedures and policies; performs related duties as assigned in mining related sector. The Purchasing Officer shall establish relationships and serve as a representative of the company when negotiating contracts and building vendor and supplier trust as well as track and monitor the delivery and confirmation of all materials and supplies.

Duties and responsibilities:

  • Reviewing, comparing, analysing, and approving products and services to be purchase
  • Maintaining good supplier relations and negotiating, renegotiating and administering contracts with suppliers, vendors and other representatives
  • Supplier management including account management and monitoring accuracy, delivery and  performance, researching and evaluating prospective suppliers.
  • Preparing purchase orders, soliciting bid proposals and reviewing requisitions for goods and  services
  • Maintaining accurate records of purchases, pricing and other important data
  • Communicate and coordinate effectively with internal teams, suppliers, and customers to meet their purchasing requirements

Skills

Competences:

  • Diploma / Degree holder (Purchasing / Management) with Min 1 year experience.
  • Ability to work under tight deadlines and track multiple processes.
  • Computer Savvy with a working knowledge of supply chain management software. (ERP)
  • Good organisational and coordination abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. (English/french)
  • Participate in team projects. Identify and share continuous improvement ideas that may enhance process and cost reduction
