The Officer - IT Infrastructure is responsible to perform thorough testing before installing software, apply patches/upgrades, manage file systems, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, open source and locally developed monitoring tools.
The Officer - IT Infrastructure is responsible to perform thorough testing before installing software, apply patches/upgrades, manage file systems, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, open source and locally developed monitoring tools.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Perform thorough testing before installing software, apply patches/upgrades, manage file systems, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, open source and locally developed monitoring tools.
- System failure analysis and recovery
- Hardware/software configuration and management.
- Technical support and general troubleshooting.
- Administer high availability/cluster architecture (Veritas Infoscale etc.).
- Administer storage and NetBackup
- Space capacity planning on storage/servers.
- Manage and lead hardware and software migration and upgrade efforts of varying size and complexity
- Manage IBM WebSphere
- System Access Review
- Technical Project Management
PREREQUISITES:
- University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar field
- Required experience as UNIX AIX and/or Solaris and/ or RedHat Linux system administrator (minimum 1 years)
- Experience in the following areas is an advantage.
- Storage replication
- Experience in IBM p series
- Oracle RDBMS/ MS SQL rdbms
SKILLS:
- Knowledge of UNIX and LINUX operating systems, storage environments, file systems, network protocols.
- Familiarity with UNIX, and LINUX shell scripting
- Desirable experience with Oracle Database Server, MS SQL Server (Always on Availability Groups etc.), Mongo DB or MySQL
- Understanding database design, implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance will be a plus
- Good Understanding of backup procedures and storage management.
