The Officer - IT Infrastructure is responsible to perform thorough testing before installing software, apply patches/upgrades, manage file systems, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, open source and locally developed monitoring tools.

 

The Officer - IT Infrastructure is responsible to perform thorough testing before installing software, apply patches/upgrades, manage file systems, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, open source and locally developed monitoring tools.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Perform thorough testing before installing software, apply patches/upgrades, manage file systems, monitor performance and troubleshoot alerts from commercial, open source and locally developed monitoring tools.
  • System failure analysis and recovery
  • Hardware/software configuration and management.
  • Technical support and general troubleshooting.
  • Administer high availability/cluster architecture (Veritas Infoscale etc.).
  • Administer storage and NetBackup
  • Space capacity planning on storage/servers.
  • Manage and lead hardware and software migration and upgrade efforts of varying size and complexity
  • Manage IBM WebSphere
  • System Access Review
  • Technical Project Management

PREREQUISITES:

  • University degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or similar field
  • Required experience as UNIX AIX and/or Solaris and/ or RedHat Linux system administrator (minimum 1 years)
  • Experience in the following areas is an advantage.
    • Storage replication
    • Experience in IBM p series
    • Oracle RDBMS/ MS SQL rdbms

 SKILLS:

  • Knowledge of UNIX and LINUX operating systems, storage environments, file systems, network protocols.
  • Familiarity with UNIX, and LINUX shell scripting
  • Desirable experience with Oracle Database Server, MS SQL Server (Always on Availability Groups etc.), Mongo DB or MySQL
  • Understanding database design, implementation, troubleshooting and maintenance will be a plus
  • Good Understanding of backup procedures and storage management.
  • Excellent troubleshooting skills
  • Critical thinker and problem-solving skills
  • Team player
