Meat/Poultry/Fish Assistant to work in front and back of house of supermarket.

 

  • Customer Service and Assistance:

    • Greet and assist customers in the meat and fish department, answering questions about products, cuts, cooking methods, and storage.
    • Provide recommendations and information on the quality and freshness of products, promoting sales of items based on customer needs.
    • Handle special requests, such as specific cuts or preparation requirements, to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Product Preparation and Handling:

    • Prepare meat and fish products according to store standards, including trimming, slicing, weighing, and packaging items for display and customer orders.
    • Follow safety and handling procedures to ensure freshness and prevent cross-contamination, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
    • Prepare marinated and ready-to-cook meat and fish options, including seasoning and packaging, as per department guidelines.
  • Display and Merchandising:

    • Arrange meat and fish displays to highlight freshness, quality, and appeal, restocking as needed throughout the day.
    • Ensure correct labeling of all products, including price, weight, and expiration dates, maintaining accuracy for customer clarity.
    • Monitor and manage displays to keep the department organized and visually appealing, adjusting presentations based on sales trends and promotions.
  • Inventory and Stock Management:

    • Assist with receiving and inspecting deliveries to ensure that meat and fish products meet quality and freshness standards.
    • Monitor stock levels, notifying the department manager of any items that need reordering, and ensuring all products are stored correctly and rotated to maintain freshness.
    • Track and document product wastage or spoilage, helping to minimize loss and maintain accurate inventory records.
  • Quality Control and Freshness:

    • Regularly check products for freshness, discarding or removing any items that are not up to standard, and following established guidelines for handling and storage.
    • Ensure all items are stored at appropriate temperatures and conditions to maintain quality and food safety.
    • Assist in preparing end-of-day reports on inventory and freshness for accurate stock replenishment planning.
  • Sanitation and Safety Compliance:

    • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary work environment, regularly cleaning and sanitizing equipment, countertops, and display areas according to food safety regulations.
    • Adhere to all health and safety guidelines for meat and seafood handling, storage, and equipment usage, including regular hand washing and safe use of cutting tools.
    • Dispose of waste and unused products in a safe and hygienic manner, minimizing any risk of contamination.
  • Collaboration with Deli and Kitchen Teams:

    • Work closely with other departments, such as the deli and kitchen teams, to coordinate product needs and fulfill any special orders or requests.
    • Assist in preparing bulk or special-order products for store events, catering services, or customer orders, supporting a seamless customer experience.
  • Promotion and Product Knowledge:

    • Stay updated on product offerings, cuts, seasonal items, and any promotions related to meat and fish products.
    • Engage customers by promoting special items or new arrivals, enhancing their shopping experience and encouraging additional purchases.
    • Provide input on customer preferences and feedback to assist in planning product assortment and promotional activities.
