Summary of Role
Reporting to the Director of Global Ethics & Independence (E&I), the Manager is responsible for
the management of the day-to-day activities of the compliance monitoring team by overseeing
and leading monitoring activities with regards to BDO Firms compliance with Global Ethics &
Independence policies and procedures; use of Global independence technology including
Quality control of PIE COI checks and providing Corporate Tree information as requested.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Gain a robust knowledge of BDO's independence technical manual and independence tools to provide support to the Global Independence team and to BDO firms.
- Responsible for the management and creation of processes for the day-to-day operations of the department.
- Quality control on Conflict-of-Interest Requests
- Respond to Corporate Tree (Corporate Group structure) requests from BDO Firms.
- Monitor BDO firms’ compliance with Ethics & Independence policies and procedures
- Support BDO firms with clients’ ingestion in Global Entity Management System (EMS)
- Monitor BDO firms’ completion of Accreditation NextGen process and related reporting
- Provide support to BDO firms' requests on shared mailbox or ServiceNow (BDO incident and request ticketing system)
- Responsible for Reporting on usage of the COI tools and compliance of BDO Firms to Global Independence policies and procedures to: BDO Global Management, Regional CEOs, Firms
- Management of global independence software and external vendor products including staying current and researching potential new/revisions to tools
- Participate in improvement and development of global independence technology tools
- Plan, develop and maintain policies and procedures that enable and encourage the optimum performance of the team and other resources within the department
- Responsible for the management of Firm Expansion Independence Due Diligence processes and reporting to Director
- Work with Senior Management in recruitment
- Work closely with other members of the E&I team and assist other members of the team as and when required
- Other duties as required
Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree preferred, or equivalent experience
- Minimum 5 years of experience in business support or project coordination role with at least 2 years of management experience in a team-oriented workplace
- Experience in compliance is preferred
- Experience with managing over 10 people is preferred
Skills:
- Proactivity, show initiative and able to anticipate project needs
- Advanced knowledge of MS Office, strong Excel knowledge
- Experience of working with online tools
- Excellent level of English (the working language of the Global Office), and strong written and spoken communications skills
- Evidence of the ability to practice a high level of confidentiality
- Strong attention to details and number accuracy
- Ability to prioritize workloads and flexibility to manage multiple team members and deadlines
- Ability to work autonomously and to build effective working relationships with the E&I team, other BDO Global Department and BDO network.
- Knowledge of audit and accounting compliance is a plus
