Senior HR Officer

 

Reporting to the HR Manager, the HR Officer / Senior HR Officer will assist in overseeing the overall HR operation and administration whilst maintaining a high level of confidentiality and professionalism.
Responsibilities:
  • Takes ownership of overall HR operations such as Recruitment & Selection Process, Performance Management, Disciplinary matters as well as management of expatriates.
  • Responsible for the full recruitment cycle for local workers and the expatriate workforce;
  • Liaises with authorities for obtention of relevant permits;
  • Prepares job contracts for new employees (Workers) and trainees / casual workers and follows up on probation reviews;
  • Establishes an induction programme for new recruits and seek regular feedback to ensure newcomers are adapting well to their new work environment;
  • Assists in drafting HR policies, processes, and procedures, and ensure they are consistently applied across the company
  • Drafts, reviews and updates job descriptions as and when required;
  • Provides subject matter expertise and operational support and guidance on disciplinary and grievance issues, in line with local legislation and company policies and guidelines;
  • Produces timely and accurate reports for HR Metrics, including but not limited to: Overtime, Absences, Employee costs, Employee movement & attrition in an efficient manner thereby allowing Management to take informed decisions and timely actions;
  • Coordinates with the Company’s Insurance and Medical Schemes’ Companies and ensure timely and efficient communication between parties;
  • Is responsible for occupation permit application (payments / do follow up on the renewal / liaising with Finance Department and Board of Investment/ Ministry of Labour / follow-up on occupation permit/work permit upon termination of contract of employment);
  • Liaises and follows up with the Health & Safety Officer for all related matters including cases of injury at work and maintenance of a safe working environment;
  • Ensures the Company’s dormitory is equipped, clean and safe and holds all relevant permits;
  • Monitors all pay practices and systems for effectiveness and cost containment;
  • Assists in establishing a strong performance culture and a performance management system;
  • Assists in ensuring a succession plan for key roles and positions;
  • Follows up on approved training in favour of the employees in terms of registration and follow up on refund with relevant authorities (prepare G1 and G3)
  • Is part of employee welfare committee - welfare activities, canteen, sponsorships etc.

 

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 3-5 years of proven work experience as an HR Generalist, preferably in a manufacturing environment
  • Degree Holder in HR, Psychology or equivalent
  • Comprehensive knowledge of employment laws and regulation
  • Previous experience in dealing with expatriate workers (permits / dormitory management)
  • Proficient & broad understanding of HR systems and processes
  • High sense of ethics and professionalism
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and analytical skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment.
  • Proficient in MS Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook etc)
