Position Objective
- Develop and implement an HR strategy, ensuring alignment with business objectives across the Pole.
- Work at all levels (strategic, tactical, and operational).
- Provide HR operational support to drive efficiency, enhance employee engagement, and ensure adherence to HR policies, practices and labour regulations.
- Lead HR initiatives that support talent acquisition, retention, and performance-driven culture.
- Act as a key point of contact for HR-related matters, ensuring seamless integration with broader corporate HR policies and objectives.
Responsibilities:
Strategic HR Operations
- Develop HR policies, ensure alignment with corporate goals, oversee HR documentation.
- Provide leadership and HR analytics for decision-making.
- Align HR initiatives with business objectives at strategic and tactical levels.
- Optimize resource allocation and utilization
- Ensure compliance with labour laws and employment regulations.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives
Recruitment & Selection
- Lead talent acquisition strategy
- Oversee hiring processes
- Enhance employer branding
- Develop onboarding programs
- Integrate recruitment strategies
Payroll Management
- Validate payroll transactions
- Oversee time and attendance
- Ensure accuracy and compliance
- Provide payroll oversight for the department’s operational teams.
Learning and Development
- Oversee training needs. Particular attention in identifying training needs for the department.
- Collaborate with L&D team to evaluate training effectiveness.
- Implement and monitor skill development programs
Strategic Planning & Execution
- Develop and execute HR strategies that support long term business growth, workforce planning, and talent management initiatives.
- Collaborate with senior leadership to define long-term HR vision.
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and metrics to measure progress towards strategic objectives.
- Monitor industry trends and technological advancements to identify HR-related opportunities and threats.
Financial Management
- Develop and manage HR budgets.
- Optimise cost related to recruitment, training and employee benefits.
- Ensure financial planning and ROI-focused HR initiatives aligns with organisational goals.
Service Excellence
- Establish and nurture a culture where service excellence is a core value.
- Develop a clear and inspiring service vision that guides actions and decisions.
- Demonstrate service leadership from top to bottom of the organisation.
- Enhance employee experience by implementing high quality HR services, ensuring timely resolution of HR inquiries and support requests.
- Foster a culture of continuous improvement where employees contribute ideas for service enhancements.
Performance Management
- Implement and manage performance appraisals.
- Develop Talent strategies
- Oversee succession planning
- Drive continuous performance feedback
- Ensure operational efficiency in HR support for the department
Industrial Relations (Conflict Resolution)
- Address employee relations issues
- Liaise with labour authorities.
- Ensure compliance with labour laws
- Manage industrial relations specifically for the department challenges
HR Reporting & Analytics
- Promote plant safety and ensures compliance with all applicable safety standards and regulations which includes participating in departmental safety meetings and any other activities to assist in plant safety.
- Ensure that all health and safety measures are implemented and adhered to.
Candidate Profile:
Basic Qualification / Education / Vocational Training
- Degree in Human Resources Management (or equivalent)
Advanced Qualification / Certification / Specialist Training
- MSC Specialisation in HR Management (or equivalent) Minimum Experience
- At least 10 years in HR operations Desired Experience
- Senior HR leadership experience with strategic HR management expertise (preferred)
Technical Competencies
- In-depth knowledge of labour laws and employment regulations in Mauritius
- Proficiency in HR tools, systems, and digital transformation
- Experience in HR operations, workforce planning and talent development within a technical and engineering-driven environment
- Strong capability in change management and organizational transformation
