Maintains, repairs, installs and tests electrical equipment and systems throughout the facility to ensure safe and proper operation.
Essential Functions:
Attends to Guests’ needs and requests
- Responds to Guests’ requests throughout the facility to make the necessary electrical repairs.
- Accommodates Guests’ electrical needs in a timely and courteous manner.
- Set up/Breakdown of power and lighting equipment for banqueting functions.
Carries out preventive maintenance
- Performs preventive maintenance and tests all electrical systems, subsystems and equipment including disassembly, replacement, cleaning, and repair.
- Inspects electrical components such as transformers and circuit breakers.
Repairs and troubleshoots
- Identifies electrical malfunctioning and hazards using a variety of testing devices.
- Repairs, maintains and troubleshoots electrical equipment in accordance with wiring diagrams, schematics, operations manuals and manufacturers’ maintenance instructions. Use of equipment such as, but not limited to, hand and power tools are required to perform the functions of the position.
Repairs and replaces light bulbs and fixtures
- Maintains light fixtures throughout the facility by replacing burned out light bulbs and/or making necessary repairs/replacements to the light fixtures on a routine and regular basis to sustain lighting standards.
SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILL AND ABILITY
The individual must possess the following knowledge, skills and abilities and be able to explain and demonstrate that he or she can perform the essential functions of the job.
- A minimum of 2 years’ experience as Electrician, experience in the building and/or hotel sector will be an advantage.
- Ability to read, interprete and abide to technical drawings, blueprints, building plans and wiring diagrams
- Ability to work carefully, methodically and carefully.
- Good written and verbal communication skills and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work at heights, in confined spaces and/or awkward positions.
