Delivery Driver

 

Key/Primary Responsibilities:

  • Responsible of security of the vehicle including labour, goods and money. (Amongst other use of lorry safety box, be accompanied when doing cash delivery to clients and cash deposit at Bank, and ensure that vehicle is locked…)
  • Responsible of stock in vehicle, (including minimization of damages and ensuring goods are well stock in lorry…)
  • Ensure products received from stores or returned to stores match the authorised documentation including proper cross verification in loading bay.
  • Ensure documents (Invoices/Credit notes) are signed and returned to grays within 24h
  • Responsible of collecting cash/cheques as per invoice delivered. (For cash sales no deliveries if client does not have cash or cheque).
  • Transporting finished goods over land, to and from manufacturing plants, retail and distribution centers.
  • Regular checks before departure to be updated in drivers check list: responsible for inspecting the vehicles for mechanical items or issues relating to safe operation.
  • Responsible for the house keeping (cleaning) of the vehicle
  • Stack boxes in an upright manner to ensure safety during transport.
  • Store lorry cleaning and maintenance equipment and tools in a safe place.
  • Make-certain that all paperwork accompanying goods is complete.
  • Map best possible routes prior to setting out.
  • Monitor road, traffic and weather conditions and take alternate routes where required.
  • Deliver goods to their destinations and take customers’ signatures and name on Invoices.
  • Of ensuring the vehicle at all time has his official papers in order (fitness, insurance, “papier condition” …). Driver must advise 15 days before expiration date & liaise with superiors to make sure that everything is completed before date.
  • updating the driver’s logbook to note time of departure, name of each client where stop with time of arrival & departure, time of return at grays, eventual time of re-exit to drop team with time in & out.
  • Of advising Distribution Officer in case of unauthorized change in planned route, of abnormal stop or activities.

Qualification & Education Requirements

  • A valid Goods Vehicle driving license is required
  • Minimum School Certificate
  • Good verbal communication skills
  • Can work extended hours during peak season
  • Can read English & French
  • Aware of Health & Safety hazards
