We are recruiting a Kitchen helper/Assistant Cook for our Bistrot
Qualifications & Experience:
• Preferably Holder of a valid Food handler’s certificate
• Holder of a clean certificate of character
• Preferably residing in the vicinity of Plaines Wilhems
• Available to work Monday to Friday 08h30 to 17h00 - Saturday from 08h30 to 16h00
• Sound communication and interpersonal skills
• Good knowledge of Hygiene and Safety Standards
• Able to read and follow standardised recipes
• Strong knowledge of proper food handling procedures
• Ability to work in team
- Ability to understand and speak English
• Experience in a similar position would be an advantage although training is provided
Responsibilities
Reporting to the supervisor, the selected candidate will have the following responsibilities:
• Sets up workstations with all needed ingredients and cooking equipment
• Weighs, measures and mixes ingredients according to recipes
• Prepares ingredients to use in cooking (chopping and peeling vegetables, cutting meat, etc)
• Portions, arranges and garnishes food
• Ensures great presentation by dressing dishes before they are served
• Verifies that prepared food meets requirements for quality and quantity
• Maintains a high standard of personal appearance and hygiene at all times
• Maintains good hygiene and sanitation procedures
• Cleans the kitchen and performs the dishwashing
• Performs Inventory when required
• Liaises with suppliers
• Receipts orders from suppliers
• Takes orders from clients
• Serves food and drinks to customers
• Additional tasks may be asked
