We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Client Accountant to join our team at Capital Horizons Ltd in Floreal, Mauritius. Capital Horizons is a 100% privately held organisation by the Kundomal & Co, which owns interests in financial services, fund managers, real estate development companies and Technology companies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records for clients, including general ledger entries, accounts payable/receivable, and bank reconciliations.
- Ensure transactions are recorded in accordance with accounting principles and client specifications.
- Monitor financial transactions to detect errors or inconsistencies.
- Prepare financial statements, including income statements, balance sheets, and cash flow statements for clients.
- Assist with the preparation and filing of tax returns (e.g., corporate tax, VAT returns) for clients.
- Ensure compliance with tax regulations and deadlines.
- Advise clients on tax-saving strategies and implications of financial decisions.
- Monitor and analyze cash flow to ensure sufficient liquidity for clients’ operations.
- Assist with the management of bank accounts and investments, advising clients on effective cash management techniques.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients regarding their financial matters.
- Answer client queries related to accounts, taxes, financial performance, etc.
- Provide regular updates to clients on their financial position and offer advice as necessary.
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing necessary documentation and financial records.
- Ensure that client accounts and financial activities comply with relevant regulations and laws.
- Ensure that all client accounts are set up, maintained, and updated regularly.
- Resolve discrepancies and ensure client accounts are in good standing.
- Act as backup for the group accountant and be cognizant of group overall responsibilities.
- Be involved in new projects including feasibility.
- Train and mentor more junior staff.
- Any other cognate duties as assigned by the GCFO
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• Degree in finance/Banking
• Minimum 4-6 years of work experience in similar position in management company.
• Communication skills both verbal and written.
• Ability to handle confidential information.
• Team player and ability to work independently as well.
• Customer service orientation
