Chief Land Surveyor

The Chief Land Surveyor leads the surveying team, ensuring precise and efficient land measurement and data collection to support civil engineering and construction projects. This role involves team management, equipment oversight, training, and budget participation.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Team Leadership :
    • Oversee the surveying team, managing assignments and project allocations.
    • Develop and implement tools to monitor and manage team workload effectively.
    • Organize and lead regular coordination meetings within the surveying team.
    • Promote and enforce safety protocols, including conducting safety meetings and briefings.
    • Monitor client satisfaction surveys and report findings to the Service Manager.
    • Encourage transparency and address non-conformities with appropriate action plans.
    • Conduct annual performance reviews for team members, in collaboration with project managers.
    • Contribute to annual reward and promotion assessments.
  2. Equipment Management :
    • Maintain an up-to-date inventory of surveying equipment.
    • Ensure all equipment is properly calibrated and adhere to maintenance schedules.
    • Stay informed about technological advancements in surveying equipment.
    • Manage procurement of new equipment and oversee repairs of existing tools, including obtaining quotes and coordinating with repair services.
  3. Training and Development:
    • Assess the skill levels of all team members to identify training needs.
    • Develop individualized training plans to enhance team competencies.
    • Facilitate ongoing professional development through targeted training programs.
    • Identify specific training requirements for building construction projects.
  1. Budget Management :
    • Assist in the preparation of the annual budget, particularly concerning surveying activities.

Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree in Land Surveying, Geomatics, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
  • Professional certification as a Sworn Land Surveyor or equivalent.
  • Extensive experience in land surveying, with a proven track record in a leadership role.
  • Proficiency with modern surveying equipment and software.
  • Strong understanding of safety regulations and quality management systems.
  • Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

 

Desirable Skills:

  • Experience with GPS, Robotic survey equipment, digital levels, drones ...
  • Familiarity with software such as AutoCAD, Mapping & Modelling Software and Photogrammetry.
  • Strategic thinking and a customer-focused approach.
  • Knowledge of Cadastral regulations, local building regulations and construction standards.

 

This role requires a proactive leader dedicated to maintaining high standards in land surveying practices, ensuring project success through meticulous planning, team development, and adherence to safety and quality protocols.
