Position purpose:

1. Construct, repair, varnish, paint & install building frameworks & structures made from wood & other materials

Key Responsibilities

Operational

1. Use a variety of tools to measure, cut & shape wood to fit precise designs
2. Build or repair cabinets, doors, frameworks, floors or other wooden fixtures used in buildings, using woodworking machines, hand tools or power tools
3. Assemble & fasten materials to make frameworks or props, using hand tools & wood screws, nails, dowel pins or glue
4. Apply finishes such as paint, varnish or stain to surfaces to enhance their appearance, and protect them from the elements
5. Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous
6. Perform administrative duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports
7. Work from ladders, scaffolds & roofs to install, maintain or repair carpentry installations
8. Construct & fabricate parts, using hand tools & specifications
9. Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches and moving & lifting heavy objects
10. Observe established safety guidelines at all times
11. Wear safety equipment/personal protective equipment, when required or necessary
12. Assist with any other maintenance work as per operational exigencies.
