Role Overview
The Software Procurement Category Specialist is responsible for supporting the execution of category We are seeking an exceptional, highly analytical and detail-oriented Business Data Analyst to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data to drive strategic business decisions. They will work closely with stakeholders to identify opportunities, optimize processes, and enhance performance through data-driven insights. The role requires strong analytical skills, business acumen, and the ability to communicate complex data findings in a clear and actionable manner.
Typical responsibilities will include:
1. Data Collection & Management
- Clean and maintain data sets.
- Establish and develop standards for data management, such as protocols for uploading data to systems, and track their effectiveness and usage.
- Design effective procurement data structures, for spend, contracts, tendering and supplier data, among others.
- Develop strategies for delivering year-on-year incremental value through the use of data.
2. Generating value from data
- Extract insights from data to inform strategies, planning and innovation pipelines; identify new opportunities and determine priorities.
- Collate data from various sources to create reports, dashboards and visualizations that facilitate the easy and effective use of data by stakeholders.
- Conduct competitor profiling, gap analyses and market analyses in key categories to support strategy development.
- Utilize statistical techniques, predictive analytics and stochastic modeling to forecast business outcomes.
- Provide actionable recommendations to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance customer experience.
3. Collaboration
- Profile internal data users and their requirements to ensure information is presented and reported in a way stakeholders can interpret.
- Present data findings in a clear and compelling way through reports, presentations, and storytelling, utilizing intuitive and interactive dashboards using tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or Looker.
- Automate reporting processes to improve efficiency and scalability.
- Promote the use of procurement data in wider initiatives and business decisions to enable competitive sourcing decisions.
- Work with the IT and Vendor MDM to ensure master data is appropriately structured, codified and cyber-compliant.
What makes a great candidate?
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Business Analytics, Data Science, Statistics, Computer Science or a related field.
- Experience: 5-7 years of experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field.
- Technical Skills:
- Experience with Python, SQL or R for data analysis
- Understanding of machine learning concepts and statistical modeling.
- Systems & Tools: Proficient in Source-to-Pay and ERP systems (e.g., Coupa, ARIBA, Microsoft D-365); experienced with data tools like Tableau, Power BI, Alteryx, and Looker.
- Data Analysis & Insights: Strong analytical skills with a solid grasp of statistics and the ability to deliver actionable insights.
- Project Management: Proven ability to manage end-to-end analytical projects, from gathering requirements to delivering results.
- Communication & Stakeholder Engagement: Skilled in translating complex data into compelling stories for diverse audiences.
- Strategic Thinking: Able to synthesize multiple data sources to align procurement goals with data availability and insights.
